Waking up with a start, Valt tried to grab ahold of Shu. To his surprise the latter wasn't there. Why was that? Maybe it was because Shu had returned to his own home that night; leaving the bluenette to be on his own again.

Sighing, the bluenette moved his giant pillow to lay vertically next to him, snuggling up to it closely. Valt had grown used to sleeping in Shu's embrace over the past few nights and suddenly found himself missing the contact. This wasn't the same as having the real silvery white haired male but at least he could pretend for the time being.

Once again Valt laid in bed unable to fall back asleep. He had woken up due to a bad dream. This time around the dream was about Shu being attacked, after he dropping off Valt, during the night. In the dream Shu had been walking home when a gang of ruffians appeared out of nowhere and suddenly attacked the defenseless male. It was enough to startle Valt into waking up.

Looking at the time Valt sighed heavily.

Three in the morning... Are you serious? Why do I keep waking up so many times during the night!

The bluenette pulled his pillow closer to himself, imagining it to be the Spryzen blader - that he was safe and with him.

After a good 20 minutes had gone by Valt found himself getting up from the bed to grab a phone on his desk.

With the phone in hand Valt called Shu, patently waiting for the call to go through. When an automated voicemail came on the Valtryek blader hung up only to redail the number again.

This process repeated itself for several calls before the silvery white haired male finally picked up the call.

The tone in Shu's voice was tired and slightly annoyed as he spoke.

"What is it Valt? Don't you know what time it is?

In a whispered voice Valt responded.

"I'm really sorry, but I needed to call you; to know that you're okay."

Blinking several times, Shu scratched the back of his head in confusion.

What does he mean by that? Is it because I'm not with him that's got him all worried?

A light chuckle sounded through the receiver before the latter spoke, his voice sympathetic.

"Of course I'm alright. How about you, what's up?"

Valt's heart skipped a beat at the question. Obviously he wasn't doing okay himself but he couldn't tell the other - not now when they were apart. It wouldn't feel the same coming through the phone. None the less Shu wouldn't be able to hug him or look him in the eye to say everything was going to be okay.

"N-no! I'm doing just fine, nothing's wrong. I- I was just wondering if you made it back to your apartment safely is all."

The red eyed male wasn't buying this. After all these years he knew Valt better than this. Something was up and troubling the bluenette.

"Valt." Shu spoke gently. His voice soothing the other. "I know you, tell me the real reason why you called me."

"I- I... I had a bad dream about you getting hurt on the way to your apartment when you were alone. I didn't want to go back to sleep not knowing if the dream were real or not. So that's why I called you - to make sure that you were alright." Valt hastily responded, trying to keep his voice down as to not wake his family.

Both sides of the call were silent for several moments. Neither of the two bladers spoke. That is until Shu sighed through the reciver.

"I see... If you want to know how my walk back home went like I'll tell you."

Shu waited for a reply; which he earned a "yes please" before continuing.

"On my way home I walked near the grass bank. The whole time I was fine because during that time I thought about how thankful I to know you and just how much I love you... Do you know how much I love you?"

Valt had been chewing the bottom half of his lip while listening. A small blush formed on his cheeks.

"H-how much?"

"I love you to infinity and beyond."

Valt dropped his phone, jumped back into bed, and slammed his burning face into his pillow. The blush he had was now covering his entire face and ears.

Through the fallen phone several questioning "Valt's?" sounded. After the fourth call of his name the bluenette moved from his bed to retrieve the phone.

"Ye-yes?"

"Get some rest okay? I have a surprise waiting for you in the morning."

Smiling to himself, Valt said his goodnight good-bye before hanging up the phone to go back to sleep.

A smile tugged at his lips. Now that he knew Shu would have something for him in the morning, and be able to see the latter, Valt jumped back into bed.

Just you wait Shu! You'll see me all rested and ready to go in the morning!

When morning came Valt practically jumped out of bed. He was eager to find out what surprise Shu had waiting for him. Whatever it was going to be, Valt knew he would love it. That's just how much Valt loved Shu.

After getting dressed Valt ran down the stairs from his room to the kitchen, grabbing some bread on his way.

Mrs. Aoi, who was already in the kitchen, watched her son run around. Her arms were folded tightly across her chest, a noticeable scowl on her face.

As Valt ran around the kitchen he rambled on about not wanting to be late for something. Whatever this something was; was really annoying Mrs. Aoi. How come he was never like this on school days?

When Valt got close enough to his mother's reach, Mrs. Aoi snagged the hood of his red jacket, causing the bluenette to be stopped from all movement.

"Excuse me but where do you think you're going so early in the morning? You've been gone for 3 days without giving me a proper call and then you show up in the middle of night without even telling goodnight or how your day had been! With that kind of behavior I don't think I can let you go out for the day unless you tell me everything that happened. After that then I might, might, let you go out."

The males jaw dropped at hearing his mother. She let go of his hood just so he could turn to face her.

Big mistake! The scowl on Mrs. Aoi's face looked very serious. If Valt really wanted to get out the house he had no other choice but to start talking.

With a sigh the bluenette looked away from his mothers face, only to look back as he started his talking.

"Alright, alright! So here's what happened. The day you and the twins went to that bey training camp thing, Shu and I had a bey battle before going to his apartment. When we got there we just played some video games. The next day we practiced new moves for our beys at the park all day." Valt continued, hiding the true facts of what had really happened. "And yesterday Shu, Daigo, Hancho, and I all went to this carnival downtown before I came back home. That's it, so can I please go now?"

Mrs. Aoi nodded impatiently down at her son. Obviously she would've preferred a more in depth conversation but seeing as her soon was getting antsy she dropped the subject.

"Fine, but you better not come home in the middle of the night again! If you do than you'll be grounded!"

With a huge smile on his face, Valt hugged his mother before running out the home.

Thank you so much mom! I promise I won't make you upset again this time!
