The Last Siren

Chapter 3

     I opened my eyes to be met with the ceiling.

     It took me a minute to realize i was in my room.Me and my dad just stayed up watching a tv the rest of the day,I guess i fell asleep on the couch and he brought me in in here.

    I rolled over on my side and grabbed my phone.
     I squint my eyes trying to adjust to the light,7:35.AM.Wow i woke pretty early,I sat up debating on whether or not i should take a shower.

Ring...Ring...Ring

The phone from down stairs went off,i guess dad got it cause it didn't ring for to long.

"Well dad is up i should go check on him."

     I got up walking out my room to the hallway leading to the staircase,I began walking down heading to the kitchen.But I stopped halfway.

  "No I haven't told her yet."

     "What?."I asked myself.

  "I'll tell her once she wakes up."

     "Tell who?,Me,Linda?.."

  "Just promise me you'll take care of my daughter.Im putting her life in your hands you better not disappoint me."

     "So he is talking about me,What does he mean by protecting me?.What do i have to be protected from.And most importantly who is he talking to?."I said.

     I looked down to the floor.I have so many questions going around in my head right now.
I heard him put the phone down.
     And i continued on my way down to the kitchen.

     "Hey dad."i said as i walked into the kitchen.

      He jumped,"Oh sweetie you scared me!."he said putting his hand on his chest.

"Sorry,so who was on the phone?."i asked.I pulled out one of the chairs to the table sitting down.I looked up again to see he was just staring at the floor."Dad?."

"Huh?..What?."he said snapping out of his daze.

"Who were you just talking to?."i asked again.

"Oh just an old friend."

"Yeah ok,anyway weres the wicked stepmother?."i asked pulling my knees to my chest.

"Oh she went out with a couple of her friends,shopping I think."he said.

"As always."i said taking a deep breath.

"So somthing came in the mail yesterday but with everything that was going on I didn't wanna bring it up.!"

I looked up,"Um ok..what is it?,is it for me?."I asked.

"Well yeah sort of."he said passing me the envelope.I could see he already opened it.

I pulled out the piece of paper.I looked over it not understanding any of it.But what stuck out to me was the words Julie K Waters Will.

"Um dad this is Ant Julies will why did you say it was for me,shouldn't you be the one looking at this.?",I stuck my arm out waveing the paper towards him.

"No sweetie just keep reading."he said.

"Um ok,"I said.
As I continued on my eyes grew to the size of a golf ball.

"It's all yours Sin: Her House,Car,Money pretty much everything she left behind is yours."he said.
He than pulled out the chair beside me taking a seat."Sin she left everything to you.

"I...i..i What?."I stood up.
"Why Me?,Why not you?.I mean you're her brother after all."

"Idk but for whatever reason she felt safe leaving her belongings with you.Lets not question her it's the least we can do for her."

"So what does this all mean?."i asked.

"Well if you expect it than you can move into the house and have her car,like I said before sweetie everything she left behind is your.You can do with it want you want."

"I just...it seems like alot for a 18 year old to manage I mean I just turned 18 like not even a month ago.And im fresh out of HighSchool."I walked over setting the paper on the counter."I just wish i knew why she gave it all to me."

My dad got up and walked over to where i was."Sweetie before your mom died she made Julie promise that if anything were to happen to her that she would have to step up and help you in anyway possible.And i guess this is one of her ways of doing just that.Plus you knew how much she loved you,she loved and cared for you as if you were her own."

I didn't know what else to do so i just hugged him.I wanted to cry but i had to be strong."So am i gonna have to move there if I except all this stuff?."

"Yes...I know the thought of living on your own is scary but if anyone can handle it its you.Again you don't have to if you don't want to this is your decision."

"Can i live on my own am I really ready for that?"

"Ok.."I said.

"Ok?..are you sure?"

"Yeah...She left me this house for a reason and im not gonna let some strangers come and live in it."I said.I was nervous but im gonna have to move out at some point.

"Well if your sure than ok.Ill make a few calls and I'll set everything up for your trip there."He said.

"Awesome."I said with a smile.I got a nervous feeling in my gut but i just ignored it.
