Chapter 2- Tyler and Shanu's Heart to heart

Chapter 2

No Ones POV

After the group of four dropped off their supplies they disbanded, Tyler and Matilda went to their room, Harper went to the library most likely to read some manga, and Shanu...Shanu went to the playground to grab a dodge ball and some logs to play bowling with. It was roughly 10 pm and most people were heading to bed.

"We should have been more careful!!!" Matilda says to Tyler as she plops down onto her cot Tyler responds with a small nod. "I know, the good thing is that we didn't get trapped back there.. Though the car had slowed us down." Matilda looked down and replied, "Ugh, I'm too tired for this, maybe we should go to bed so we have some rest before training tomorrow." Getting up Tyler responded to Matilda, "Alright, I'll go check on the others before I sleep." Outside Tyler noticed that all around him seemed torn apart yet was a great area to be in. Seeing Shanu across the way bowling concerned him but he continued walking towards the other room. "I shouldn't have crashed the car into that tree.. We could've gotten here a lot quicker and safer." Tyler hears Harper talking to herself about the incident. As he opened the door Harper quickly scrambled to a sleeping position "...I know you're awake" Tyler says walking over to Harper "No you don't.." Harper replies. Tyler rolls his eyes and shakes Harper to get up, "Come on... let's go look at the stars.." Tyler says before walking away with Harper following him after a few minutes they reached the outskirts of camp where the gate was, little did they expect several cat goblins to be pressing against the gate "heh...looks like they need nighttime security..." Tyler says while Harper pulls out a can of pepper spray and sprays the cat goblins causing them to run away hissing. Harper takes a deep breath and sits down looking up at the stars, Tyler follows suit and sits next to her "It's all my fault..if I had just focused! Driving is my only job on our missions and I managed to screw it up! Man...I'm such a garflican screw up!" Harper says slapping herself in the face, Tyler patted her back "You're not a screw up...you're like a book character in one of those manga's you read..." Tyler says trying to reassure Harper this causes a small smile to grace Harpers lips "Thanks Tyler..." she whispers. Tyler simply looked at the stars and grunted as if to say 'no problem'. After a few minutes of star gazing, Harper stood up and walked back to her room while Tyler decided to stay outside. Joining Tyler after about fifty minutes, Shanu had managed to deflate the dodge ball and beginning a conversation, "What was Harper talking to you about?", as if he hadn't had heard anything at all, but Tyler responded to him anyway, "She was just acting a bit upset on how the car crashed." Shanu forgetting most of what happened replied, "Oh, wait the tree crash?", Tyler had sat up to give a glare at Shanu, "Yes, but she kind of got upset about it because, well..you know, she usually is the one who drives and all that.", Shanu responds worried, "Well, I would think that she, would probably feel overwhelmed or something, right? Since she-", their conversation was cut off by Matilda walking to get water. "Why are you guys still awake go to sleep and get some rest." Tyler and Shanu had both got up and went to their separate rooms for the night. "Tilly, why did you have to get water.. I was talking to Shanu about a serious topic for once." Matilda looked at Tyler with a tired and angry look on her face and explained that she had been awake the whole time. Tyler stated, "Then you're the one that really should be asleep then don't you think?", Matilda turned over and replied, "Goodnight, Ty guy go and get some rest or something." Tyler went to get some water too and fell right asleep.

The next morning, Tyler had been the last to wake up. That's not normal of him to do. Usually he's working on blocking or beating up dummies by now. Matilda was hovering over him with a wet washcloth "You dead yet bro?" she questioned "I'm not dead Tilly" "IT'S TILDA" Matilda growled as she threw the washcloth in his face. "CAN YOU NOT! I'M KIND OF HALF AWAKE YOU KNOW!!" Tyler shouted which was unusual for his usual quiet, behavior but he's different with his sister "Well that's not my problem, everyone's waiting for you at breakfast." Matilda said rolling her eyes "..and by everyone, you mean Shanu?" Tyler questioned "Yes, Yes i do." Matilda stated "now hurry up!" After a few minutes the twins walked through the dark halls which were dimly lit with lanterns, they soon reached the cafeteria which was brimming with noise some of it laughter, some of it not, several small children were running around, the two teens found their way to the table where Harper and shanu were, a small blush had been on Harper's face but she quickly wiped it away making a snarky comeback at Shanu who was peacefully eating some large eggs it was clear that it had to be an ostrich egg. "Shanu, I swear you have the weirdest eating habits. First you just tried to engulf a full bag of heetos, and now you're sitting here eating boiled ostrich eggs.." Tyler stated with a frown, "Leave me and Oscar the eggy alone" Shanu hissed "Um...aren't you kinda eating you-" Matilda was cut off by Shanu stuffing the entire egg down his throat, "Yes, I am, Oscar will live in my belly" Shanu said through a mouthful of egg. Matilda ignoring the fact that Shanu didn't just choke, she began with her preposition." So, I say we train after we eat." Matilda says with a peppy tone "Sure why not." Harper says in a less excited but not unexcited tone, the usual chatter ensues Harper and Shanu got into a fight over who's spork was who's not unusual for a meal, soon after the group of four was heading out to the training fields....to be continued
