Chapter 10

You never think about all the bad things that could happen to you. Most people live their life in fear of danger, but danger is all around them. You never realise this until you get hurt doing something unexpected. Something you believe is safe, but what is safe?

I was walking down the road. Simple enough? It was a bit busy, but around the usual. Sometimes, I would weave through the crowd in hopes of getting to my destination quicker. Occasionally, someone bumped into me. Most apologised, but some scoff at me rudely. I've already given up on running because I'm out of shape. I pant after jogging for a while and laugh at how I need to work out more.

If I had been closer to the shops than the road, I wouldn't be in the hospital. Though, you can't live life on 'ifs.' Someone pushed me. Maybe he was in a hurry or running away from something. All I know is, he pushed me. I stumbled out onto the road and into the incoming traffic. I know the car tried to avoid me and slow down, but there was only so much it could do.

When I got hit, it felt like I was moving in slow motion. I didn't realise it until after a while. I finally was able to process what happened. Then, I got up and walked out of the street. The driver quickly got out of the car and called an ambulance. I assured I was fine despite my head wound. Sam runs up behind me checking to see if I was okay. He said I hit my head on the ground after I made impact with the car. I must've hurt my side some, but I felt numb. The pain was non-existent as of right now.

I kept insisting I was fine, but they called an ambulance anyway. Sam stayed with me the whole time and rode to the hospital with me. They placed me in a room and started an IV. They cleaned and bandaged my wound and checked my ribs. Random bruises covered my arms and legs. My ribs hurt due to them being severely bruised.

I didn't want visitors. I know Sam sat outside in the waiting room, but I didn't want Andy or James seeing me. I asked the nurses to call my parents in the states. They made the decision not to come since the accident wasn't as serious. They did, however, agree to pay the hospital fees. One thing they were good at was paying the bills for me.

I kept falling in and out of sleep. The nurses would come in my room to check on me. Every time they came in, I woke up. I was surprisingly not in as much pain as I thought I would be. Every now and then, the nurse said someone wanted to see me. I only allowed Sam who would bring messages for me. He would tell me of what Andy and James did. He told me how Maeve showed up with Lucy, which caused more drama than good.

I was growing on him. He was nice enough to me and he would be the only person to see me at my weakest. He made sure I was alright and would lighten the mood every now and then. I knew Andy and James wanted to see me, but I refused. Sam even tried to persuade me, but I was stubborn. No one else would see how helpless I looked.

I didn't have much to do when everyone left the room. I would stay awake a while after the nurse left and Sam only came in a few times that night. I didn't want to stay awake because it left me thinking more. Every chance I had, I would sleep so I wouldn't get lost in my thoughts.

When morning came, the nurse told me two special guys still wanted to see me. I chuckled and told her it was fine for them to come in. She smiled at me and left after finishing her duties. James and Andy came in shortly after. They quietly entered the room thinking I was asleep.

"If I was asleep, I'd still wake up based on the noise you're making," I joked.

"We didn't make any," Andy said.

"That's the point."

I feel like this update is worse. It took me so long to write it, but it's shorter than the others. I might put this one on hold and work on another story. I'm currently working on three potential fanfics that I might post. Hope you guys enjoyed some of this update. I hope the next is a lot better, though!
