Who knows how long to go

*Flippy's POV

I look out of the window of my tiny bunker. My friends Flaky and Splendid went to the hospital an hour ago for 1 last ultrasound. Flaky has been pregnant for 9 Months now. She's supposed to be due any day now. But the thing is, no one knew when that day was.

After a bit, I see a red car pull up in the driveway. The heroic blue squirrel steps out and helps guide the mother-to-be across the slippery driveway.

Winter had begun a few days ago and the snow was falling faster then we could shovel it out of the driveway to make sure Flaky doesn't fall and break her head open.

The doorknob clicked and Splendid opened the door for her. She kissed his pink nose and flopped on the couch. Her belly was enormous. I dare say it was as big as her.

I sat next to her and rubbed her ears. She was clearly in a lot of pain as her pregnancy came to a close. "How was everything?" I asked.

"Smooth as silk. The doctor said the baby is healthy as a horse and growing just right." Splendid explained sitting between me and Flaky. I couldn't help but scowl. Ever since she announced that she was pregnant and he was the father, he wouldn't stop rubbing it in my face.

I still remember that day like it was yesterday...

Flaky had gathered us all together to announce something. "U-Uh, guys? I have something really big to tell you all. Something that might impact all of our lives forever..." She said shyly. Cuddles perked up his ears and listened closely.

"I...I think...I think I'm...Pregnant."

We couldn't think of anything to say. We all looked at each other. I felt my jaw fall open a little. How could this happen???

That's when Mr. Ego flew through the window and placed his arm around her. "And Splendid will be living with us because...I know he's the father." Flaky said proudly.

My jaw hit the floorboards and broke them.

As I reminisced. Cuddles came from the bedroom he shared with his own Girlfriend. "Hey Flaky." He smiled hugging her. She hugged back and then tried to push him away. But we all knew that once you get a Cuddles hug, your not leaving until he wants to leave.

He let go and took the seat next to her. We all sat in silence for a bit. Flaky fell asleep with her head on Splendid's shoulder and he carried her to bed. When he came back, I had an uneasy feeling as he looked at me.

"How does it feel Flips?"

"Excuse me?"

"How does it feel knowing I beat ya to it?"

I feel a low growl in my throat. The only thing that keeps me from wringing this moron's neck is the fact Flaky is sleeping right across the hall. "Shut up Splendid. For all we know, you ARN'T the father." I rolled my eyes.

His stupid grin drops. "What do you mean? Flaky said she knew I was the father." He laughs nervously. "Yeah. But last I checked, you can't do a DNA test on an unborn fetus." I explain as I notice his panicky smile. "Besides. She was my girlfriend just a few weeks before you started dating. It's very possible it's MY baby."

His smile drops into an angry frown. "You don't know that!" Splendid yells getting in my face. "All I know is that WE won't know until the baby is born!"

"Calm down guys. When will it-" Cuddles tries to get us to stop yelling, but we both turn to him and scream "SHUT UP!!!!!!"

I don't know what's to come if this is going to be Splendid's attitude to me. But things are about to get ugly.
