School was normal. Everything was back to it's boring normality when both Tyler and Kurt- err, I mean Deavin isn't near me. Deavin sat somewhere else the whole semester and we didn't talk at all unless you call merely civil hellos as a talk. Tyler wasn't even in the same grade. Basically had no contact with him.
Honestly, I was about to bang my head to a wall somewhere to cure this boredom as except for Mr Grumpy, every other teacher monitors their students like crazy and I can't slip in a novel to read or they'll immediately get taken away from me.
So imagine my happiness when my old friend from high school decided to invite me in their novel spree. We'd search for hidden treasures with the motto 'pretty covers, Kick-Ass summary' and buy them cheap at sales. Before going home and shrieking in happiness at our heavenly bargain.
A bit of a bummer though is that she's bringing her new friend. A girl she met at a convention who happens to be a schoolmate. I don't want to sound like a pessimist but situations like this happens and I just want to get along with the other girl well. I don't want a drama where we fight for the position of best friend.
Taking a bunch of randomly assorted snacks in the cupboard, I hauled it all into my backpack before getting face to face with an annoying smirk.
"What do you want?"
"Oh baby sister of mine, you going to visit that pretty friend of yours?"
"*sigh* I said no, Nial. She already has a boyfriend so you can't expect me to hook you up with her."
"Oh come on, the secrets been out long ago, she has no boyfriend. Just let me go see her, I guarantee you won't regret."
"Says the guy who's been on and off with his many other girlfriends that never last past three months?"
"Ouch, that burns."
I shoved an Oreo in his mouth and chewed on another, raising my eyebrow at him in protest, "Say all you want, Nial, but I can't trust you with my bff."
Just in time to stop another fight, Nathan walked into the kitchen and starts giving us his 'not another one' look.
"Evening, sibs. What're you two going on about today?"
"Naomi won't let me meet her hot friend."
"Um..duh, Nathan, you get why I won't let them meet."
"You mean Sammy? She has a boyfriend, right?"
"No she doesn't, Naomi's just been lying so I would give up."
"Well now I know that it's definitely not working."
"Well either way, she won't date you, Nial."
"And why the hell not?"
"Because she was my ex."
".."
".."
Wait, Samantha was Nathan's ex???? How come I've never heard of it???? Nathan's definitely lying, right? I didn't get to ask my questions coz Nial had already launched his first.
"When the hell did you have time for that??"
"Sometime when you were dating Haley, we met in a resto and we just kinda hit it off till she found out that I was Naomi's brother and all, things just went haywire after that."
"Why didn't you tell me??? She's my best friend. You're my brother. I deserve to know from one of you."
"Yeah, I'm your brother too and you knew I was into her best friend."
