I Love

She says, “I don’t like my smile,”

She says, “I don’t like my stomach.”

She says, “I don’t like my thighs,”

Keep reaching for the sky.

You know what you hate,

This isn’t a debate.

You know your bad side.

I know your crying.

You want to change,

But it feels out of range;

You don’t have to love those things, just accept them.

I love life

Out of all the strife,

I’m not here for myself.

I’m here for my sister.

I would miss her.

Life is good when you look up out of the dark.

It might leave marks,

But wear them proudly.

You are still here,

Not over there.

You’re braver,

You’re not in the grave.

Smile,

It gives someone something to look forward too.

Give more,

And keep trying.

Say, “I love myself”

And it will come true.
