"Gahh dang it, I forgot my notebook.." I muttered to my only real friend, Cara.

"You mean the one you constantly draw in instead of using it for actual notes?" she asked me jokingly, as if she answered her own question.

"You know it," I said in return. I had a pretty okay morning so far, which didn't happen often. The walk to school took longer than usual, because it was all snowy and icy. Winter is terrible to me, but to Cara, it's the best thing in the world.

She looked out the window cheerfully and sighed.

"Look at all that snow! We HAVE to go outside and build snowmen," she whispers to me. I roll my eyes - the usual Cara, always so happy and simple. I wish I was like her.

"Okay everybody," our teacher, Mr. Cameron, yelled over the class. "Get out your homework! We'll be going over it today."

"Did you do it?" I asked Cara.

"No.." she said in response. Typical us.

The walk home was even colder than the morning walk. I had always hated the cold, and so did Ella. Oh God.. I have to stop thinking about her. She's just a stupid imaginary friend. She doesn't even exist. Yet, she has helped me go through so many terrible situations.

"Aye, are you alright, Gigi?" She always called me that. "You're so out of it. Is it about.. Ella?"

I was startled to hear her say that. I forgot I told Cara about her. But what was even creepier was how she could feel it was about Ella.

"How did you know?" I asked, stopping in the middle of our walk.

"Well, it's just that I've never seen you like this before. You told me how your parents made you give her up. Since then, you've never really been the same without Ella.." Cara replied, stopping with me. She looked a little upset, like an I'm-not-good-enough kind of upset. I felt horrible.

I stared blankly at her, mumbling words throughout my head and wondering what to say, when all of a sudden a crow falls from the sky. I jumped, and I guess it scared Cara too, because she fell back at it's limpness.

"Aww, Jesus. Poor bird. Wonder why it just fell out of the sky like that?" Cara said sympathetically as she stared up into the now grey sky.

Looking to see if there was anybody around - because I had "the feeling" again - I witnessed a small human-shaped shadow quickly sprint back into the dark. It was getting very late, and clouds covered most of the sky.

"Well, I'd better go. See you tomorrow, Gigi.." Cara mumbled as she walked into her driveway. I hadn't even told her what I saw.

"Bye, Cara," I whispered. And then I walked.
