I sat at the Ares table hunched over a piece of paper. My eyes wondered around the empty dinning pavilion. It was just before dawn so all the other campers were surely fast asleep in their cabins. I looked back down at the paper, studying it closely before shoving it into my back pocket. I swiftly stood up and jogged out of the pavilion.
My feet carried me to the group of cabins and I strolled over to cabin number six, smirking slightly. I took my backpack off my shoulder and unzipped it, pulling out a small wooden box. I examined the box closely before setting my backpack down and slipping silently inside of the Athena cabin. The cabin was fairly large, full of book shelves filled with any type of book you could imagine, and then there were the tables covered in maps and blueprints and all sorts of intellectual stuff. But I hadn't woken up in the wee hours of the morning and broken into the cabin to ooh and aw at some book shelves and oversized tables. I had come to emotionally, and maybe if I got lucky, psychically scar the Athena kids.
The cabin was silent expect for the soft breathing of the sleeping brainiacs. The only Athena kid I had ever spoken to was Savannah and she was your typical smartass. She looked quite different from the other kids in her cabin though, she had dark brown hair opposed to blonde and her eyes were deep brown not a stormy gray. She lay in her bed with books surrounding her and the covers pulled up to her chin. I pursed my lips and tiptoed over to her opening the box I was carrying. Inside the box was one thing Savannah would not want anywhere near her: spiders. The eight legged creatures were crawling around the box and climbing on top of each other trying to escape.
Before I knew it I had put some spiders in the bed of every person in the cabin. I smiled triumphantly before slinking out the front door. I dusted my hands off and shoved the empty box into my backpack before slinging it over my shoulder. I sat down on the stoop of the cabin just in time to watch the sunrise. The sunrises at camp were one of the most extraordinary things I'd ever witnessed. The way the colors were brighter and more intense, and the way the sky blended together in a tornado of colors. Everything about it practically hypnotized you; drawing your attention away from anything else that was going on, putting you into a trance. But my trance ended earlier than intended when a blood curdling scream came from inside the cabin.
When I stepped inside of the cabin it was one of the most beautiful sights I had ever seen. Kids were running around, swatting at the spiders crawling all over them, and screaming like they were being murdered. I laughed lightly, leaning against the door frame, taking in all the chaos. A shrieking Savannah stood a few feet in front of me, whipping her hair around like a maniac, trying to remove all spiders intermingled with her locks. Her fit made me laugh so hard I had to clutch my stomach to control myself. Savannah must've heard me because she stopped with the hair whipping and looked up, locking her eyes on mine. "You!" She screamed, pointing a finger at me. "Hey, you, uh, got a little something." I muttered mockingly, motioning to her head. She yelled a slur of curse words at me in Ancient Greek before resuming her violent head shaking.
My final destination was the Hermes cabin. I snuck around back and snooped around until I found a large crate marked "EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE". My lips curled into a grin as I picked the crate up and hauled it to the front of the cabin. I pulled a dagger out of my belt and pried the lid off of the crate. Inside were jars full of a swirling green liquid. Greek fire. Greek fire is one of the most dangerous things you can get your hands on. You can practically put some in a jar then bam, you have a bomb. It's fairly easy to get a hold of because the Hermes kids always keep a stockpile of it. Anyways, I picked up one of the jars and watched the green mass inside. Looking at it sent a chill down my spine so I quickly did what any homicide obsessed teenage boy would do: I threw the jar through an open window and right into cabin eleven. The glass shattered with a sicken crunch and within seconds the front wall of the cabin was engulfed in green flames. That's when all hell broke loose.
