C'Gosu sat atop his speeder admiring as the third sun was setting and finally sending the planet into the night period he had heard so much about growing up. Slowly over the past three months the suns were dipping below the horizon sending long shadows along the forest that made up much of the planet. As the red dwarf slowly slid down bathing everything in a deep red glow prompting him to turn his speeder on and maneuver it towards his habitation pod with a great haste. Arriving home he saw Treni out on the porch waiting on him with a stern look on her face. "I expected you home two cycles ago and with your daily allotment." Her words came out sharply cutting him deep. "I was out watching the the star sink low in the sky and all the lights start to appear." He hoped his explanation would be enough to dissuade. "Besides we still have enough rations to last us until food time comes around again" He tried to smile hopefully and tried to turn the charm up again. She frowned and turned to go back into the pod and walked up to the food cooler and pulled it open trying to find something suitable to make that would warm both them and the pod up in the cool temperature of the dying light. C'Gosu walked back out side and looked up at the sky with amazement trying to count all the dots that were appearing in the almost black sky but giving up after a time as more and more popped into existence. "C'Gosu" he heard from the house "Your final meal of the cycle is ready before you go into hibernation." He headed inside and sat down at the table and tried to hold in a groan when he saw boiled byormi leaves. Treni must have heard his groan because she looked at him and said "If you had gotten your food allotment we wouldn't be in this predicament." He quickly scarfed the soup down and went into his bedroom and started to change into his hibernation suit when he heard a rustling behind him and he turned around to see the wind blowing the curtains of his open window. He shook his head, his first time in hibernation was slowly weighing on his mind making him jumpy. As he opened the slot on his hibernation pod and looked down at the soft spongy material that would serve as his bed for the next 10 years as he slept the dark period away with most of the population who were deemed fit and worthy to pass on their genetic material while those who were past their life span were left to clean up and maintain what they could and pass on to the life stream when their time came.
He left his room to check on Treni and make sure that she had set the right time and date on her hibernation pod and when he was satisfied that everything would be set up for her when she woke up he leaned over gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead and hit the seal button on her pod and listened to the hiss to make sure it sealed properly and then watched as her face took on a pale bluish hue as she drifted off into hibernation sleep. He smiled sadly hoping that while he drifted off to sleep her face would be the only thing on his mind. He walked into his room and made sure that the pad on the end of his pod was set to the right wake up date and that all his vital signs and Treni's would be transmitted to the central government computer so that when the time came and he was woken up they would make sure everything was fine and he would be made sure nothing wrong happened to him or his property during his time in hibernation. As he laid down attempting to get comfortable still nervous about the thought of being asleep for more than 2 cycles of sleep. He pressed the button on his wrist communicator and heard the hum as the lid slowly closed and closed his eyes and started to breath deeply when he heard the hiss of the sleep agent sprayed into his pod. He felt his eyes grow heavy and his body go numb as he fell into a deep dreamless sleep.
