Mikyung stared at the screen intently and bit her nails. No matter how long I look at it, it's not a message to the detectives, but to the two kiddos. She replayed the footage again.
I started working as the Healer a year after I was released.
What's the most recent assignment you did?
You know presidential candidate Kim Sangwon right? He asked me.
My work is. I do everything for a lot of money. Ethics, justice, I don't think about such things. Ah... I should have lived thinking about it a bit more. This is really like a signboard. If you don't know where you should go, that kind of signboard. A cliff on that side, a construction site on the other. Go back here.
Do you know Go Sungchul? He's from L.A.
Did you kill him? After you got a request?
I don't accept work like that. If someone kills another person, he's not a human being anymore. No matter how (I've lived), I should die as a human being. So that I can meet the people I wanted to meet again. The people who left first. I have one regret, I should have stopped already. Gwangrok turned his head and looked directly at the camera. I should've stopped this, and had two kids with a woman I love, one dog, two cats, three fishes and lived while raising them. I should've done that, huh? Gwangrok chuckled.
-
"You two heard everything you were supposed to, your teacher's will. The woman you love, two kids, dog cats, even a carp. Should I make another alias for you two? I'll do it for you two, as your severance pay."
Hyejin became frozen and unresponsive, as she tried to comprehend what Ahjumma told them. Changwook, on the other hand, let out a low and ferocious growl.
"Who killed him...." He hissed as rage pounded his temples.
"The sunset is beautiful. That the sunset is glowing...." Gwangrok looked out of the café balcony.
"Means that the sun's setting soon." He was joined by Mikyung, who held a cocktail in her hand, "And it also means that Junghoo and Hyejin will be totally pissed off at you and become like bulls in a china shop." She sat down opposite to him.
"Long time no see, Detective Kim." Gwangrok till this day called Mikyung by Detective Kim, since that's who she was when they first met after his arrest. He was quite the handful with the cops.
"How was the South Pacific?"
"It was blue and hot."
"But, I guess you're still worried about your two students."
"My student still has no idea about who she is does she?"
"She probably doesn't, although I can't guarantee with the nightmares she's been having lately."
"Detective Kim, do you believe in fate?"
Mikyung paused for a moment, "Rather than fate, I trust in my newly bought kimbap maker. It rolls really well" She wriggled her fingers, "It doesn't burst even if I just roll it roughly."
Gwangrok laughed at her response, she's still the same. "It was around the year in 2011 when I picked her up, wasn't it?"
"Why didn't you tell her the truth?"
"Do you think she'll be happy?"
"Happy?" They both laughed sardonically at the word.
"Ah, why do I get a stomach ache whenever I hear those words? Be happy. Be rich. They say those crap." Mikyung scoffed.
