Harmony.

I was in the car with Mya headed to my counseling session. My head was banging from lack of sleep the day before, and I didn't even have the energy to put my makeup on.

"You look rough sis. You okay?"

"No, I'm tired as hell and I don't feel like going to this it's a waste of time." I admitted.

"Then why are you going?"

"My mom and dad are forcing me. I keep telling them nothing is wrong with me. I been in counseling my whole life, and my life had not changed one bit."

"Harmony don't walk in there with that attitude.. and you attitude is a problem, and you know how you get around guys."

"I don't even get tense like that anymore, I'm talking to Dre aren't I?"

"Are you really talking to him because you like him, or is it because your not trying to be scared anymore?"

"I'm not scared..and I really do like him." I said, but I wasn't even sure yet.

I rolled my eyes at her, and she laughed, "Bitch you better be lucky I love you, I'm going to let you slide on that for now."

"I love you too, but can we please go somewhere else and you tell my parents I went?" I pleaded.

"Like where where you wanna go?"

"Uh..can you drop me off at my Uncle house? He don't live far from mine."

"No harmony..I want you to be better, and you cant run from your problems forever."

"I'm not running from my problems, I told you it's nothing wrong with me."

"Yes there is. Now let's go." She said as she stopped the car. "You want me to come in with you?"

"No." I said and slammed the door behind me as I stormed off into the building.

I sat in the room with my counselor on a fluffy pink couch and she sat at her desk with her glasses on. She was a pretty lady in her younger 40's, and it's not that I didn't like her I just didn't like all the questions she asked.

I crossed my arms and slumped down in the couch waiting for her to antagonize me.

She stared at me smiling, and I was getting annoyed already and people wonder why I don't like coming here.

"What?"

"Hi Harmony."

"Hi." I answered back dry.

"I made you cookies. There Macadamia, I know there your favorite." She said, as she pulled out a bag from in her drawer.

It was true, Macadamia cookies were my favorite. "White Chocolate chip Macadamia Nut cookies?" I questioned.

"Of course. I figured I might as well put you in a good mood before we talk.. and plus your my favorite client." She opened the plastic box the cookies were in and took one, and I did the same taking a bite.

I chuckled, "I bet you have to say that to all your patients."

"No...I do not. Harmony your so strong, and beautiful and I can read right between you..you remind me of my daughter that's much older now."

"Your daughter was taken from her family when she was five years old and was raped by multiple strangers?"

"No...but you will be surprised the number of people that have similar problems like you but didn't go through the same thing."
