Chapter 1: Wondering When I'm Coming Back...

"STEVEN!"

Yellow Diamond's eyes narrowed for a second, then lifted into a smirk usually reserved by her pearl.  She flicked her wrist, and instantly her army retreated. They went back to her ship, Yellow bumping her head once again on the hatch and muttering something about it being hazardous to all members of White Diamond's court.

Everyone was in shock. Tears were silently slipping down Pearl's face as she picked up the pink gem from the sand, shuddering when she touched blood.

----------------------------------------------

Lapis felt like she'd been imprisoned in a mirror once more, powerless to do anything. Steven was her world, no, her universe, and he was gone and it felt like the sky was falling.

Peridot scanned the vast expanse of her knowledge for the right words to say. But even in her learning-packed two years of existence, she didn't know what could be said. Everything felt inadequate.

"Lazuli, no, Lapis, I'm sorry I-I..."

She trailed off. After all, consoling someone is hard enough, but what do you say when someone's love, light and saving grace has been snatched out of their life?

----------------------------------------------

Pearl didn't think she could stand it. As if her Rose, her first love, her world, her liberator, her everything for thousands of years, wasn't enough. Now her Steven, her baby boy, her darling, her SON was dead.

Pearl wasn't close to ready.

----------------------------------------------

Ruby had nothing to say.

So she screamed.

Screamed loud until her nonexistent voice box couldn't handle it, and then some more. Eventually it died down to a quiet whimper, then went back to loud. Maybe, if she screamed loud enough, she could forget where she was and why.

----------------------------------------------

Ruby screamed.

And Sapphire wept.

They couldn't do this together.

If Ruby was a mess, and Sapphire was a mess, then Ruby + Sapphire = Also a mess.

Ruby screamed, Sapphire wept, and Garnet...

Garnet wasn't here.

----------------------------------------------

Connie was, understandably, a mess.

Steven talked about having to pay for what his mother did, but...

Never like this.

It never seemed so real.

A/N: I'm finally happy with this chapter! I'm really sorry for abandoning this, school and life and many, many new fandoms all set this back a lot, as well as me losing interest in the fic. But expect a new chapter, hopefully soon!
