The lights of the city stalked into every corner and crevice of the streets and alleyways. I stood on a roof top and watched the town below dance by, the night air cooled my nerves. I peered down to the alleyway below, a young woman surrounded by men it seemed. I jumped down into a trash bin, when I climbed out I noticed the men were staring at me. I shruged. "Just uhh walking through, I didn't see anything" the men surrounded men, they cackled and their dead eyes stared into mine, "what makes you think we'd let you get away?" They flashed their teeth, a row of sharp fangs shined in the darkness, I felt myself darken "Vampires" I pulled my bat out of its case and rushed towards them ready to swing, I landed a hit on one, the others jumped on me and pulled me towards the group. I felt myself going berserk, rage feeling my heart as I trembled. I jumped up as adrenaline coursed through me and I beat them into bloody submission. The girl was long gone.
On my way home I picked up groceries, my ill mother tended not to shop very often and it was up to me to take care of myself and kid brother, though I didn't do a very good job, I'm barely passing in school, my classmates, well they hate me and I get into fights... alot. Tomorrow is the end of a very short Christmas break and i'm not really looking forward it.
When I got home my kid brother was tending to our mother, she was curled up on the couch, sipping soup. She smiled warmly. "Hi dear". I gave her a half smile and hugged her "How you feeling ma" she didn't say anything, I knew she was in pain but I couldn't do anything to help her. "If you need anything.... let me know" "i'll be in my room." Ma smiled soft "you going to school tomorrow" I sighed and smiled back at her "i'll think about it."
