I saw his gaze concentrated on my lips, my breath hitched slightly. I didn't know if I liked him or not, I hadn't come to a conclusion..It was a bit difficult to be able to.
Mars flushed and looked at the floor, why does he keep doing that?! I shifted on the bed, the sedative wearing off so my side was throbbing. "Sorry..." Mars mumbled.
I shrugged, even still he still confused me... my hand was warm, I didn't think anything of it.
I turned my head to glance out the door. I felt something on my hand move and frowned.
I glanced down at my hand, a blush splattering across my cheeks and nose. Mars hand was planted on top of mine gently, I don't think he noticed.
Due to the fact this type of affection has never been shown to me by friends nevertheless a boy I wasn't sure what to do, I didn't know if I should move my hand or not. Mars laid down, his fingers curling around my hand.
Well, I definitely couldn't move my hand now... I heard a noise on the roof and realised that it had indeed started raining.
"Rain is relaxing." Mars smiled, I nodded stiffly. Suddenly a loud crash of thunder sounded causing me to jump slightly at the unexpectedness of it and a baby to start wailing.
"Well-..it was relaxing." I said sighing, I put emphasis on the word was as I spoke.
"What's wrong?" Mars asked innocently, sitting up.
"Unexpected thunder isn't really relaxing." I said suddenly becoming aware of the warmth on my left hand.
"I like thunder." Mars grinned.
"Of course you do...I'm fine with at as long as the aftermath of it doesn't include electrocution or screaming children." I said pointedly.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Mars asked. "Why do you just assume I like it?!"
"It's just never before seemed to bother you." I stated.
"I'm sorry..." Mars mumbled.
"No need to get so defensive, if I insult you it's usually unintentional" I said finally moving my hand from his.
Mars didn't seem to notice, his fingers just curled up against the sheets and he cracked his knuckles. He went quiet. "I'll be back." I murmured hauling myself off of the bed into the wheelchair. Mars nodded
I wheeled out of his room all the way to mine and pressed the nurse call button, they'd be able to give me more drugs.
After the nurse had administered some pain relief drug through a second drip I returned back to Mars's room.
Mars was laying down, his eyes closed and cuddled into the blankets. I sighed and sat in the wheelchair in the corner counting the ceiling tiles out of pure boredom.
Mars covered his face with his hands and mumbled, shaking slightly. I noticed this and frowned, I wasn't sure if he was awake or asleep. Mars shot up into a sitting position and buried his head into his knees.
My frown deepened, "Mars-...are you alright?" I asked from where I was sitting.
"Nightmare..." he mumbled, I nodded.
"Well-..are you alright now?" I asked before mentally facepalming "Sorry-..stupid question." I muttered.
"A little." Mars smiled, I smiled slightly. Mars sighed and pulled his head from his knees.
"As I said earlier, this has been an interesting morning." I said. Mars smiled and nodded.
I rubbed my eyes and crossed my legs, the medicine was making me drowsy but I was determined to stay awake because it wasn't bed time and no doubt the hospital had called the police. "Let's play a game!" Mars smiled
"You sound like jigsaw from the movie saw..but okay." I said. Mars smiled.
"What game?" He asked and I tilted my head to the side as I thought.
"I don't know many games...20 questions?" I suggested.
"Okay!" Mars beamed, I smiled slightly.
"Do you want to go first?" I asked.
"Okay." Mars smiled, I leant my arms on my knees as I waited for him to have his go. He asked a question.
The game went on for about 5 minutes, it would've gone for longer if I hadn't accidentally fallen asleep in the middle of asking him a question.
-----------ONE HOUR LATER-----------
I woke up a while later cuddled into the covers, I laid there with my eyes closed for a moment before shooting into an upright position. Surely I'd been in the wheelchair when I'd fallen asleep?Mars was sitting in the chair beside me, the wheelchair beside the bed. Mars was... reading..
I frowned, "How did I get here?" I asked confused.
"The nurse told me you'd probably feel better and be in less pain on a bed." Mars said.
"Oh-...right" I said still frowning. Mars smiled at me, flashing a crooked grin that hid straight white teeth behind his pale lips, his eyes filling with happiness.
I shook my head slightly, no one in there right mind pays that much attention to a person... "What's the book about?" I asked try to distract myself.
"I don't know, it's boring." Mars said, closing it and putting in on a chair.
"Then why are you reading it?" I taunted lightheartedly, a smile tugging at my lips.
"The nurse yelled at me and told me if I didn't she was going to make me leave the room." He shrugged
"Oh...why did you want to stay if I was sleeping?" I asked.
"I was lonely." Mars mumbled, I tilted my head to the side slightly.
"Oh." I said.
Mars nodded, he looked away from me. I didn't look away from him though, it took me a few seconds to realise that I was staring. Mars looked back up at me, he then looked out the window.
I started fiddling with a loose piece of stitching in the sheets, it started to become unraveled. It was still raining, "let's have a raindrop race." Mars grinned.
"A what?" I asked very confused, I was worried that for a split second he'd gone mad.
"You know- when you pick a raindrop and then see which one hits the bottom of the window first." Mars smiled
"Right.." I said. Mars beamed.
We started playing, in my opinion it was boring but I wasn't going to tell Mars that.
"Damn you win again!" Mars said, throwing his hands up in the air.
"Just a tip, the thicker ones go faster." I said smiling slightly
