It was a beautiful afternoon. An afternoon that you would likely enjoy with your family and friends. Birds were singing as if they werre having a funeral at a church. The sun was perpendicular to my eyesight. It was really an amazing scenery. It shows how peace the world is. Alas, that alone will not be enough to change my perspective of the world. It was a perfect moment for an insignificant being like me to meet the Creator. Sirens were heard on that very day. People looked so small that I want to kill each of them. But not that it matters, because right now.

I’m on the uppermost level of a very tall building.

Trying to commit suicide.

“Hello there.”

Ugh, not another police officer. It was a soft yet firm voice. As I turned back, I saw a clumsy bespectacled woman wearing a lab coat around the age of late 20s. Clumsy, I deduced that she was doing an experiment and with unknown reason rushed here to ‘hello’ me. Despite her clumsiness, she was illuminating. A goddess. That was the only thing that popped out of an empty soulless brain of mine.

“Who are you? I don’t even know you! Get away!” I shouted loud and clear with an angry expression painted on my face.

“Heinrich. An orphan. A third year at XXXXXX High School. A sickly perverted introvert. Pessimistic but yet still stepping on the stones of reality. Pretty sarcastic that he could breakdown someone’s mental state without a flinch,” she said so confidently.

“H-Heh heh. Quite a professional stalker aren’t you? Just because you know me, don’t think that you’ll be able to convince me. I don’t even see just how are you going to convince me to not to jump with that information of mine.”

“No, I’m not here to stop you. You are free to jump. Instead, if you die now, you won’t be such a pain in the ass in the future, Professor Heinrich.”

“What are you talking about?! Bullshit!”

Just what the hell is this ‘goddess’ talking about. Future? Professor? Are you kidding me? I’m bad at studies. Physically, I have a slender body so delicate that it would break with just a touch, ephemeral. W-wait, putting my physical and studies aside, it would likely for me to go to the afterworld after graduating high school. I have nothing to do. I have no dreams. Dreams, bullshit. I don’t know what I want to do. No, actually for a worthless being like me, thinking of what to do is actually a stupid thing to do. I shouldn’t even think of it from the start. It was a dead end. I knew I’ll never find the answer, even if I do find one, by being hardworking is the only way that I’ll be able to pursue my so-called dreams. Hard work, that’s another bullshit The thing that is deciding your future is the asshole named; ‘Fate’. That’s my philosophie de la vie.

“Why are you being so quiet, Prof? You’re being insignificant in my eyes. You might want to start talking or I wouldn’t even remember who you are. Just so you know, I discard my memories manually based on criteria and one of them is; insignificant worthless pathetic human being,” said the ‘goddess’ out of a sudden.

Wow, she is sure sarcastic. So sarcastic that it succeeded my own sarcastic behavior. She’s starting to become annoying.

“Why would I talk to you? I don’t even know you, I couldn’t careless,” putting a tough front I spouted all these nonsense although I do want some explanations. Well, I was quite sure that it was a lie, you know, about the future and me being a professor. Huh, there is always limit to crack up some jokes but seriously, this girl just made a lame one. Meh, a star for your joke ‘gal.

“Hm, that didn’t surprise me. You’re still a dense guy after all. Uhm, no, actually the words ‘still’ and ‘after all’ are wrong. You’re a dense guy from the beginning aren’t you? I can imagine why your biological parents left you. Are you still going to jump?”

“…”

“Still ignoring me? Oh no you don’t ignore an assistant of yours or I’ll kick your ass. Did that ‘biological parents leaving you’ statement stings in you? Ha ha, you do have a heart after all. Do you want to kno-”

“What do you mean?! You’re my assistant? Don’t joke with me! Even if it’s true, we don’t have such thing called chemistry. We’ll never be able to stay in a locked up room for a straight 5 minutes for sure. No, actually I would rather jump here,” I shouted with a firm tone.

“You’re still up with that’imma-going-to-jump-here’ bullshit? You should know by yourself. I met you in the future. I haven’t made a contact with you in this timeline. You may jump now and sustain some light injuries or fracture some bones here and there but still you will continue to live. That’s the fundamental of time travelling. Oh wow, I starting to doubt you, how the hell are you even able to be a head scientist at SERN researching and surprisingly shocked the world of the time travel possibilities. No, not possibilities, the fact that I’m here means that you succeed on leading a group full of prodigies in the making of a time travelling machine and made time travel possible.

----

Less talking, come with me you nitprick brat! We have a world to save and this is your future self dreams for his past self. Do it or do it!” the woman lectured me. She was so serious about this. She isn’t lying? B-But, time travel? Sounds ridiculous.

“Okay, I-I be-believe in you. Tell me what should I do?” as I gave up on the idea of committing suicide. I had made the crowd and the police wait for nothing. Hah, serves you right, I’m not going to die today.
