Infection

I look down at my little sister, Cayden. I can see the fear in her eyes. We're surrounded. The S.S. or Secret Society. The circle makes way for the head judge. He's at least six foot seven compared to my five foot six frame.

I scream. As loud as i can. Which is extremely loud. Cayden is used to it. She doesn't even flinch anymore.

The judge and his warriors crouch down in pain. Then you hear thousands of pounding footsteps.

They're coming. The infected. As quick as cheetas. As strong as wrecking balls. The warriors still crouched clutching their ringing ears. I unsheathed my silver sword. I held the brown hilt with green vine designs and swung above the head judge's head. Slicing off the head of an infected. The severed head looked up at me with cold dead eyes. I looked down at the head judge and winked. Then turned around and stabbed another infected.

I swooped down and picked up Cayden. She held onto my shoulders for dear life. Then ran. Ran for my life and hers.

Now before we get to into the story. Hello, my name is Amber Goddess. This is my little sister Cayden Goddess. So let's back up a bit to before this whole crazy rampage.

The S.S. looked at each other then back at me and Cayden. She looked up at me grabbed my hand and asked "Amber? What's going on?"

I kneel down beside her and open my arms. She jumps in and puts her head on my shoulder. I whisper in her ear "Hold on tight. I'm going to run from here when I take you to the bathroom."

I look back at the council and ask "May I take Cayden to the restroom?" The head judge nods and i walk out the door.

I pass by the bathroom and go to the door. I grab my sheath and sword I was forced to leave by the door. I stop and strap the sword around my waist. Then take off in a full sprint out the door opening and passing through the gate and down an alleyway.

I run for a good fifteen minutes before I hear a yell. Apparently, the S.S. figured out I wasn't just going to the bathroom. Took them long enough. I run down an abandoned street and run straight to a dead end. I run out of the dead end and go to turn right warriors. I turn left more of them. So I go straight forward than were surrounded. Now I set Cayden down. Then the so called crazy rampage starts.

I hear a lot of screams. By a lot, I mean a lot. I groan and go back to help them. I set Cayden down then point to an abandoned building and hand her a dagger. She runs up the old rusted fire escape than into an apartment and after that, she's gone from my view.

I run back to the group and immediately start to kill some of the infected. Within ten minutes I have killed probably about one hundred. Did I mention in like fifty times faster than a normal human being? Well, I am. After another five minutes, the rest of them are dead.

I look around and only three out of the twenty warriors are left with the head judge behind them. "Come with us and live. Or stay here and probably die," Then I run from where they are standing to get Cayden.

I hear one of the warriors yell out "Wait! Please! I wanna come with you!" I slow down and hear 4 sets of footsteps come towards me. I turn around and see all of them standing with scared looks on their faces.

"How many weapons do you have?" I ask. They all look away I repeat myself louder this time. One steps forward "We each have a gun and small knife." I nod at him. "Hand the guns over." They look at my with their mouths agape. I motion from them to hand them over. I look around the abandoned street and look for a bag of some sorts. I turn to my right and see a black backpack. I grab it and grab all the guns and shove them in the bag. Then sling the bag onto my back and jog to where I told Cayden to hide.

"Stay here, " I tell them then run up the old rusted fire escape. I run up behind her and grab her making her jump and turn around then make a jab at me. I quickly jump back and "Whoa there buck-a-rue" Then bust out laughing realizing how I could have been stabbed and those would be my last words. I grab her and jump over the fire escape onto the next building and groan. I forgot about the people I'm taking in.

I run down the fire escape on this building. Cayden hides her head in my shoulder. I motion for them to follow me. I ask them "Do you wanna head back to the court or stay with me for awhile?" The head judge speaks up "We want to go back to the court." I looked to the three remaining warriors and saw that while I was inside they took their helmets off. I now see the blond, red, and brown hair of the warriors. Two of the three warriors are girls. At least I'm not surrounded by men, I think. I pointed at the blond warrior and asked: "What is your name?" She replied with just one word. "Kamau" I pointed at the redhead warrior and asked the same question. She replied with one word as well. "Cressida." I looked to the brown haired one and nodded he said "Apollo" I looked toward all the warriors and asked, "Do you wanna go back to court or stay with me?" They all walked toward me and stood at my sides. I looked back to the head judge and said: "You're on your own." Then motioned for the now ex-warriors to follow me. They followed us and left him back gaping. He quickly ran up by Cayden. I gave him a deadly glare then pulled her away from him.

We had been walking for several hours when i saw an extremely large group of them. The infected. I heard the bullet before i saw it. He had shot at Cayden. She was my only family. I jumped in front of her shielding her from the bullet. I felt nothing. No pain. I looked up just in time to see us encased in a large orange bubble like the shield. It surrounds all but the one who shot at Cayden. Since Apollo, Kamau, and Cressida had all surrounded the man it was like a wall around him.

I walked closer to him. Ready to punch him. When the wall started collapsing in on him. Close to crushing him. Then it went black just as I propelled my fist forward.

All I heard was the constant beeping of a machine. I groaned. The light blinded me when i opened my eyes.

I looked around the room and sighed in relief when Cayden was laying in the bed next to me.

It was over. We were safe. I could just feel it. Right at that moment, my mother walked in.

Now I knew we were safe.
