Divergent Continued

Chapter One

Tris POV

When I saw my name up there next to the one, I couldn't believe it. I got first.

"OMG Tris! Congrats!" Christina was the first person to congratulate me. Uriah comes over and claps his hand on my shoulder.

"You beat them!" He said. I could tell he was drunk by the way his words were slurred. I turned around to look for Tobias. I immediately found him. I have trained myself to notice him.

Our eyes locked for about a minuets before we started walking towards each other.

When he reached me, I could barley hear him over the people around me. "Do you think a hug would be too much?" He asked.

"You know what? I don't really care." I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him. Not a hungry kiss, but a long, sweet one. The kind that makes my heart flutter. I could hear the gasps of the people around me.

When I pulled away, I saw the shocked looks on the faces of the people around me. Everyone had stopped what they were doing and were staring at me and Tobias.

The first person to speak was Christina. "Why didn't you tell me!" she yelled. "I thought I was your best friend! How could you lie to me!"

"Let's talk somewhere else," I said. I didn't want everyone to hear. I started to walk out and Christina followed me.

Tobias POV

Tris walked out and Christina followed her. I knew that it wouldn't help her situation if I was there.

Everyone was still staring at me. I didn't like to be the center of attention. "Nothing to see here!" I yelled. Everyone started talking again. I saw Tris walk back in with Christina. They were both smiling. I'm glad she is not mad at Tris anymore. I decided to go over to Zeke's table.

When I got to his table, Zeke and Shauna were both smiling at me. "What?" I knew why they were smiling but if I acted confused, they might let it go.

Lauren walked over with a smile. When she saw Zeke and Shauna's face, he smile instantly turned into a frown. "Why are you guys so happy? Did I miss something?" Zeke and Shauna turned towards Lauren and frowned.

Then, Zeke stood on the table. "For everyone that missed it, I want to congratulate the new Dauntless couple- Four and Tris!" Everyone whooped and stomped their feet. Then I saw Tris. Her face got as red as a tomato and she ran out.

I turned to Zeke, gave him a death glare, and ran after Tris.

Tris POV

I pulled Christina into the hallway. "The reason I didn't tell anyone is because I did not want anyone to think my ranking had anything to do with favoritism. You would have been the first person I told. I'm sorry Christina." I look at her, her face emotionless. I start to get worried. What if she doesn't forgive me? I can't lose my best friend.

Then Christina hugs me. "Tris, I'm sorry I got mad. Your reason makes perfect sense." I am so relieved.

We walk back into the ceremony smiling.

I see Tobias with his friends, so I decided not to bother him. I stand with Christina, Will, Marlene, and Uriah. Will and Christina are making out so I start to talk to Uriah and Marlene about jobs.

That's when Zeke stands on the table. "For anyone who missed it, I want to congratulate the new Dauntless couple- Four and Tris." I immediately feel heat rush to my cheeks. Why would he yell that?

The next thing I know, I am running out of the room. I don't know where I am going, I just am running. I decide to go to the Chasm. I hear footsteps behind me but I don't stop.

When I reach the Chasm, I start to cry. I don't know why I am embarrassed to be know as Tobias's girlfriend. I'm not. I don't even know why I ran. Then I feel a pare of arms wrap around my waist.

When I turn around, I see Tobias. "Why did you run Tris? Are you embarrassed to be my girlfriend?" He looks hurt.

I decide to answer as honestly as possible. "No! I am honored to be your girlfriend. I don't know why I ran. I guess it's because I don't like to be the center of attention." Tobias looks relieved.

"Do you want to go back to my apartment?"

"I would love to" Tobias and I walk back to his apartment hand in hand.
