Chapter 11
Nick was right. After our kiss, the rest of guests joined us, dancing. I and Nick continued with our dance but I couldn’t bring my eyes to look at him. I buried my face in his shoulders. Good thing Nick didn’t tease me about the kiss.
Someone tap on Nick shoulder making we both looked at him, “May I cut in?” asked daddy. Nick nodded and smiled. I saw him went over to mum and dance with her.
“Are you happy?” daddy asked making me bring my attention to him.
I smiled and nodded, “Yes I am daddy.”
“I’m glad,” he smiled back at me, “I know Nick going to make you happy and I’m really am happy for both of you. You have made a right choice into marrying him. I don’t think I would ever trust anyone to take a good care of my youngest daughter but him alone.”
I don’t know why I blushed at his statement. He then continued, “The first time I saw you with Nick I knew that you both are prefect for each other. I could see that he loves you will all his heart and I could see that you are feeling the same too.” I looked at daddy in shocked. What is he saying? Nick loves me? And I love Nick too? He must be mistaken or maybe we both are so good in our pretence that everyone believe that we really do?
“You don’t have to hide what you feel, Ashley,” daddy continued, “Love shouldn’t be keep a secret but make known especially to the one that you love. What more now you both are husband and wife? You should tell him you love him everyday, just like me and your mum. Never let love die or gone from your heart,” he advised.
I just smiled, while he kept on continue, “But even though you have become someone wife, don’t forget that you are still my daughter. Never hesitate to come to me for help or advice. I will be there with you forever,” he said in teary eyes.
I could feel tears in my eyes too. I hugged him, “Thanks daddy. I love you and always will. I might be someone’s wife, but I will always be your daughter.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t stop her from being you daughter either,” Nick interrupted us, “Sorry, Edward, I need to steal my wife away from you for a while. I want to introduce her to some of my friends and colleague,” he explained.
Daddy smiled, “She’s yours,” he said and kissed me on the cheek before going back to mum and dance with her.
Nick introduced me to each and every one of his friends from college, from his office and some of his father’s business partners. All the people that I’ve been introduced kept teasing Nick that he finally could sleep well now the girl of his dream is finally his. I wondered why they said that to him. Has he been pretending in front of them too or are they actually mistaken me for Nick’s real girlfriend? I’m sure he has one even though he told me he have none. I wonder if she came tonight. Most probably she didn’t and most probably Nick didn’t invite her. It would make him felt awkward if he has his girlfriend and wife in the room.
Wife? I’m merely a wife to him. I’m just a temporary wife for two months. After that we’ll be solo again and maybe back to our normal self again. Even though just a temporary wife, I could see the other side of him; the charming Nick instead of the jerk Nick that I used to know and see. Maybe he really wasn’t a jerk at all. Maybe I’m the one who’s been a jerk to him. Come to thinking about it, I’m the one who always find fault with him.
“Hey you look so happy tonight,” said Amy who finally came to sit with me when she saw me sitting alone at our table.
“Yeah, I can’t believe I’ll say this, but I’m really enjoyed myself tonight,” I told her smiling and pushed the strand of hair that’s covers my face with my hand.
