I use to act
When I was young
I used to sing
It was easier to have fun
Everything I did wasn't monitored
I had space
But as soon as I decided to have my own thoughts
My mother decided that I was fake
She thought I lied about School
She thought I lied about friends
She did so much questioning
Our open relationship had to end
No longer did I speak
No longer was I truthful
No longer did being good prove useful
She drained my energy
She kept me On lock
I used to act
And now I barely talk.
