Chapter Four Meeting Elena

Elena was very, well mysterious. She dressed almost all in black and wore dark eyeshadow and eye liner. She wore a lot of makeup but she wasn't what you would call girly or preppy. She was very tough, and I could not even imagine her crying, even when she was a baby. She did not talk much. She made decent grades usually C's. I didn't really like her at first, to be honest she kind of creeped me out. She stared at people. I nicknamed her the looker-outer. I feel like Maddie would have warned me to stay away from her, telling me she probably did drugs or something. But Elena didn't do drugs. She rescued dogs.
Elena would run away from home and go to the animal shelter. She was obsessed with dogs and could not stand to be away from them. I was more of a cat person myself but I liked both.
Elena really intrigued me, I thought it was cool how she looked so dark and mean but her heart was bigger than the universe. She had saved a total of 4 lives. She worked as a volunteer lifeguard at the beach and saved 3 little kids and an 80 year old grandma. The grandma story was pretty funny! She was playing with her grandson when a riptide pulled her under. She was spinning in circles under water. But really she had fallen over and was standing on her knees and spinning in circles screaming help. There was no riptide and the water was probably 3 ft deep. She thought she was drowning and started hyperventilating. Elena jumped in and pulled the little boy and the crazy old lady out of the water and went back up to her post.
