Today was a rainy day in LA. Jack refused to step off the covered part of the patio as he watched Chica run around in the yard. He was not ready for a rehash of yesterday after his shower. He had to tailor another pair of pants and underwear, this was going to be a long and arduous process of adjusting to the new tail. It was the biggest thing he had to adjust to now. It was tall and fluffy and downright annoying. It twitched at random, was hard as hell to wash, and was still awkward to even feel. It wasn't even the worst thing that came with the changes, the noises had to be the worst. They came up at random, purrs of content and comfort, chatters of annoyance and sarcasm. Squirrels make it? So does he now. It was strange but it was manageable.

Anyway, Mark was worse than ever now. He was just miserable. He was a headachey, feverish, hard of hearing, all over achey, sick guy. He actually had it worse than Jack did, concern was aroused and Jack called the hospital a second time, this time he got a male nurse on the other line by the name of Jacob who was, ironically, a wolf hybrid.... he hated his name and preferred to be called Jay and asked the jokes to be kept to a minimal.

After explaining the dilemma 'Jay'  told the both of them it was just genetics. To summarize, Mark was more than ready to change, but his body wasn't. It wanted to be human still but the virus was saying "fuck u bro imma jus gonna change all dis shit up get used to it bitch!" But Mark's body was saying  " no, fuck you! We are MAN DAMNIT! We will not surrender to you assholes! You can go and fuck a tree you douch bags!" And were at war. But it was a loosing battle, he had little time now, it was winning and Mark's body was throwing a fit. He suggested that Mark stop taking medication and start eating more protein as the meds were slowing the change down a significant amount. He thanked Jay and said his goodbyes before hanging up.

Mark was a bit upset that he couldn't take his pain killers but if it was the price to pay to be freed from torment, he was willing to wait, he wasn't one to complain.......

 actually he was.

His whines and groans were a pain in and of themselves that Jack was ready to rip his new ears out and shove them down Mark's throat just to make the suffering of both stop. Mark confined himself to the nest in the middle of the floor and just snuggled with his puppy the whole time, more than normal for him, to the point where it got awkward for Jack to be in the same room. It just felt more comforting for him now, like he and Chica were practically close friends, not owner and pet. By 5:47 p.m. he was more than ready to transform just to get out of the agony he was in when it happened.

He had gotten up to go get a protein drink from the fridge, he had been drinking them on and off throughout the day as Jay has said, it did make him feel somewhat better. Jack was outside with Chica, just letting her blow off some energy.

Mark was just on the edge of the kitchen when his whole body felt like he was set on fire. He too, hit the floor when it struck him. The agony ripped through his very being and had him crying.(not that he was going to admit it.) His mind was racing to remember what Jack had said to do if he wasn't there when it happened. He was only getting fragments, don't do something, do what?... he couldn't quite place it. He felt so hot that he had to take his shirt off or burst into flames. Getting on his hands and knees, he felt blood trickling down the side of his head and no sooner that he felt it he heard two separate splats. He didn't need to look down to see his ears had fallen off in a pool of blood. He screamed when he felt something breaking the skin near the end of his spine, his mind went to one word: tail, his tail. The screaming reached Jack and brought him running to the scene in the kitchen. It was a horror show but he needed to be there, for Mark, for his best friend.

"Mark! Oh my god! Look-look at me Mark! Look at me please!" The familiar voice of Jack made Mark snap his tear-ridden face up to look him in the eyes. Seeing his friend, the man he had always thought was so strong and brave, crying in pain and fear, Jack couldn't keep looking at him without tearing up as well. Mark reached up, grabbing his hand, digging his nails into the skin, looking for reassurance through the tears and pain. You need to be there for him, he needs you, help him.

Thoughts running wild he had to stay strong for Mark. "Look, Mark, you're going to be fine, okay? Just breathe. Don't panic, you are not alone, I'm here for you now." He let the terrified man lean into his chest, gently rubbing his back as the Korean breathed heavy, gasping breaths into his shirt. He glanced up to see the tail that Mark had grown, it was long, curled, and bald. It looked more like the worlds longest chicken strip before it was even had seasoning or batter on it, just skin but that was changing quickly. What looked like a mixture of black, brown, light yellow, and cream coloured  fur was starting to grow. The sound of something small clattering to the ground shook him out of his daze. He heard Mark gasping and choking out sobs of shock and looked down to see what had fallen. Two canine teeth had fallen onto the floor and rolled next to the ears on the ground.

Noooooo one was ready for this.

Bringing his hand up, Mark felt where the teeth used to be and felt two new teeth growing in the places very rapidly and painfully as well. Feeling down to the two on his bottom jaw with his tongue he pushed the other two and, sure enough, they popped out just as easily. He wanted to scream again but he held his ground. Leaning more into Jack, he let a few more sobs loose. Suddenly something started pushing through Mark's skull. Mark had been leaning the top of his head into Jack's stomach when it happened so both felt this at the exact same time. Mark pushed away to alleviate some of the pain and was just about ready to pass out. Everything was tearing down his resiliency, the only thing that was keeping him awake was Jack. He reflected on what was happening and what it must've felt like for Jack, it really was hell on earth. He felt terrible he couldn't be there when his best buddy was going through this. Maybe he would be more ready for this. When everything seemed to be coming to its climax, it stopped. The pain disappeared like a ghost and left him on the floor, in a puddle of blood, with his best friend right by his side.

He held his breath, waiting for another wave of pain, but it never came. He openly started sobbing again. Now the tears he was shedding weren't tears of agony, they were of relief. They stayed on the floor like that for another ten minutes.

Sixth chapter! I'm sorry for all the angst okay! People need to suffer to keep the story rolling. Next chapter will be more nice and friendly to Mark, don't you worry. Anyway be ready for the next chapter: Gone to the dogs
