At the end of October, Cherry had gotten into too many problems. She became rebellious and had skipped a few of Lily's concerts which meant a lot to her sister and her family.
"Who cares?" she said,slamming the door behind her after a fight with her parents.
A few hours and a tub of tears in, Cherry hears a knock on the door and it immediately opens without another knock.A girl with long curly hair and dark brown eyes came in, she had been Cherry's friend for the past decade.
"go away" Cherry mumbles with her face stuck on her wet pillow.
"get up,we're going out" Veronica said throwing a pair of jeans and tank-top at Cherry.Veronica, Veron, pulled her out of bed and she got dressed.They went to a mall and when they entered,Veron said,
"We need a make over" Disgusted and confused, Cherry disagreed and wanted to head to the CD shop to buy rock albums to add to her ridiculously large collection. Veron has always managed to persuade Cherry to do anything, Cherry has a bit of a soft spot for her but she won't admit it.
The girls picked out a few outfits and pairs of shoes, they bought their stuff and sat down at a Deli.
"Why not change your name to Cher instead?" Veron suggested.
"Like that singer?"
"Yes like that singer but you dont necessarily have to be named by her,you could leave it as a nickname!"
"Yeah,Cher sounds nice."
The next day in school, Cher walks in with flats and a black skirt and shirt, keeping her gothic look. She finds everyone staring at her so she blushes with confidence and a smile longed for. Before Veron could show up compliment Cher, a boy,of course, went up to her and said
"what happened?" confused again,Cher gives him a look.
"Like what happened to your old clothes? out grown them already?" he explains.
"well no,just trying on a new look."
"Cool,cool. Just so you know,you look totally different but its still you,I like that." Cher didn't take it as he was flirting because he wasn't. He never flirts with any girl and would never be bothered by them.Veron came skipping in after a few second but what felt like hours to Cher.
By the time she got back, everyone stared at her and gasped.Grace broke the silence and said
"Where can i get one-na those?"
"You can borrow it some other time" those words gave a shock to everyone because over all the years of rebellious behaviour, she has never shared anything with her family.
Her parents' hearts lifted immediately,they thanked Veron and started treating her as family.
