Chapter 5 'Magic Number'

I sighed as I looked at the pictures that were scattered throughout the kitchen table. I had woken up in the middle of the night to look at them again, and because I couldn't go to sleep. I heard footsteps coming downstairs but ignored it, it was probably Vladimir.

"Wow, they don't seem to fucking happy or alive." I heard a young voice say. I turned around and my mismatched eyes looked at red ones. It almost scared me half to death, I'm going to have to get used to the red eyes. I was right that it was Vladimir but...not the right one. "Junior? What are you doing up buddy?" I ask him, I was going to hide the pictures but it was a bit too late for that now. Juniors eyes turned to me, "I couldn't sleep, I'm used to sleeping in the morning and being around the house at night." He explained. I nodded, that made sense.

"Your dad and siblings like that?" I asked him, curiously. I mean Vladimir seemed just fine and the children didn't seem to have a problem with it either. Junior went to the refrigerator and grabbed a dreadful blood bag that had now taken up some space in my fridge. He came back and sat next to me, "No, just me. Well, my dad and Mircea are like that sometimes it just depends." he said. I nodded then sighed as I looked back at the pictures.

I was having more trouble trying to see any hidden clues or anything. Chaos did say these cases were going to be harder. I'm going to have to just see what Levi says, see if I can figure anything out. I bit my lip my mind going a million miles a minute, "You look stressed, shouldn't you take it easy?" Junior asked as he looked down at his phone that he was not supposed to have but Vladimir gave it back to him and Mircea after constant pleading.

I sighed and leaned back in my chair, "I feel like I'm going to miss something if I take it easy." I confess. Junior looks at me, "Then just take baby steps. You're going to bust a vein." he suggested and then it clicked. I nodded, "No, you're right. I should take it by baby steps." And that means focusing on just one person.

I decide to do; hatred, fear, forgiveness, then love. The same order that Vladimir had told me them in. It seemed right to do it in this order too. Something told me that at least. Levi still hadn't texted me that he found out who they are, I'll check tomorrow at the station. I yawned and stretched my sore muscles, "Geez, that makes things way easier." I said.

Junior nodded, "You going to sleep?" I nodded and motioned him to follow me upstairs. Junior followed me up there after I turned off the lights and put everything away. Once we got to the guest room he shared with, Radu and Calliou he sighed and pouted at me, "Can't I take the couch? It's shitty sleeping with Calliou who snores like a gorilla." He whined.

I chuckled and ruffled his hair, "You're overreacting Junior, Calliou is a lit-" I stopped when Junior gave me a drool stare and opened his door and instantly I heard the loudest snores of my life. The little kid was worse than my dad!! I grimaced and shut the door and looked at Junior, "Grab your pillows and stuff, one of the couches is a pull out." I told him.

Juniors face beamed at that, he nodded and went into the room releasing once again Callious monstrous noises. I went downstairs and got some more pillows and blankets for Junior and spread the couch so the mattress came out. "Thanks for this by the way." I turned to Junior as he put his pillow and own blankets on the couch. I shook my head, "It's no problem Junior. If you need anything just give me a call or you have your dad in that room." I said pointing to the door under the staircase.

It was hard arranging everybody but we managed, I had to give Vladimir and Mircea their own rooms, the boys had to share. Three bedrooms where upstairs, mine, Mircea's, and the boys. The other one was down here, it was big but I liked the one upstairs better that's why it was left on its own till now.
