~{Hi Hello Welcome. This a reuploaded story. I took it down because I needed to change the cover and I thought it should undergo some edits while I was at it. It was originally a short story that came from a collection of short stories I wrote about tarot cards but I took that one down too since I didn't really have anything ready to post on it but before taking it down, a good friend of mine read it and asked I continue on with the first story so here we are. }~

Card: The Fool

Card Number: 0 - Zero

Part Of Deck: The Major Arcana

If you draw the card upright, it means to be reckless, immature, free, or simply a fool. You act on instinct rather than planning something out, where you just go with the flow, take the chance, setting out on a journey without a care in the world. It also means to start over, it being the number zero. To reset. Letting go of the past. Beginning something new. Freedom.

I see this card and think The Fool is that one person most people aspire to be. Crazy and outgoing, never caring how people see him or what they say about him. He is just too caught up in the world to notice the negatives people try to shower upon him. But then again, there is a downside to someone like this. They could be too crazy, too eager for a new setting. In this card, you might see a boy or jester on the edge of a cliff. He could fall from being too reckless by getting so close, which brings me to the reversed meaning.

When drawing the card upside down, it means to be cautious and plan before action. Anxiety. Basically, someone who is too careful and mature. Someone who thinks about everything. A lot of us are like that. Scared, timid, planning most things out so nothing goes wrong. Just remember there is such a thing as being too cautious, worrying too much, too many details going into your plans. You lose sight of your instincts and the world around you, being too caught up in perfection and missing out on what's important.

Ryder is a rebel. Always doing something to get in trouble. His friend are surprised he hasn't gotten expelled from school yet with what all he has done. He skips class in the middle of a lecture, he gets into fights constantly, you can even see him making out with other guys in the hallway. People are always telling him how disgusted they think he is with doing such inappropriate things out in the open but he doesn't care. Never has, never will. He just wants to live life the way he wants. Free and unchained, not held down by anyone. He is known as the fool to most people.

Galen is a quiet child who likes to keep to himself. His friend list is very limited and usual never goes anywhere unless he has the event planned out thoroughly before attending. He lives on the thought that the world is a cruel and unusual place and should be careful with whatever you are doing. Galen is anxious about everything and hardly ever goes to school in fear of someone trying to start a fight with him, or maybe getting hurt on the way. He walks to school so what if it starts raining and then he gets struck by lightning? What if a wild dog comes out of nowhere and attacks him? What if there's a drive-by or a band of thugs sitting around on his path looking for trouble? With his luck, he'll get stuck in a crowd of people and be ushered off somewhere he's never been.

These two have never crossed paths due to their extreme tardiness until one day, Galen decides to go to school after being excused for about a week, and Ryder having skipped it for a week. Ryder usually has a car but the previous day, he got it impounded for racing someone else down the main roads so today he is walking. Well, not walking. He's on a skateboard, listening to music. He comes upon an intersection and is debating on j-walking but then he sees Galen across the way. Galen is also listening to music and has his eyes on his phone to not draw any attention to himself or end up talking to someone he doesn't know, meaning he doesn't see that the light says stop and crosses anyway. Ryder watches the boy, wondering if he's seen him before but then spots a car out of the corner of his eye coming full speed down the street. Ryder acts without another thought and darts out, slamming into poor Galen and causing both parties to hit the ground, out of the way just as the car flew by.
