Meeting (Her)

You had just finished your shift and were walking home when a furious downpour broke out, rain pelted your uniform soaking you as you ran to the nearest cover. You ran under a bus stop the rain hitting the wood above you it sounded like birds pecking at wood, the sudden downpour was followed by thunder, you shivered and held your arms together against your chest breathing slowly, the air was so cold you could see your breath, you could hardly believe how unlucky you were, a heavy rain from out of nowhere, and you were stuck under this bus stop until the rain ceases, you cursed under your breath, you were cold, your clothes were soaked, and the rain wasn't letting up, you pounded your fist on the side of the stop then you heard a very light whimper coming from behind the bus stop, you figured you were already soaked so no worse could be done. You stepped out into the rain and around the bus stop where you saw a small fluffy tail poking out from a cardboard box that was so soaked it seemed like it would collapse any minute, and sure enough it did, the box collapsed and the water ontop soaked the one hiding underneath it, what you had expected to be a cat turned out to be a neko, she had black hair with auburn eyes, and auburn ears and a black tail, her eyes were filled with sadness. You extended your hand to help her up, but she flinched and shrinks back when you approached, you frown, thinking what could have caused her to act this way, "it's alright, my name's Y/N, I just wanted to help you get out of this rain, you can wait it out with me under this bus stop" you assured the neko with as much kindness you could put into your voice. Slowly the neko took your hand and let you help her up, you averted your gaze, her top was white and was practically see through, then escorted her around to the front of the bus stop, once out of the rain you offered her your coat to cover up with, which she accepted, a few minutes later the rain stopped and the sun shown brightly, a double rainbow hovered over the bus stop and you smiled, "wow! A double rainbow! That must mean something! By the way, where do you live? I can help walk you home." You asked after admiring the double rainbow, she didn't answer, she couldn't, tears welled up in her eyes and she buried her head into your coat arms sobbing. You could only think of one reason why she would be crying after that question, "were you.. Abandoned?" You asked unintentionally, she looked up from your coat arms and nodded sniffling, "you could stay with me, if you want, I've got a warm apartment just down the way, and you'll catch a cold like that.." You gesture to her soaked attire. Her eyes light up just a bit and she nods, remnants of tears still lingering on her eyes, you can't help but wonder who would abandon her, so heartlessly.
