Please now that NOTHING I write in this is for sympathy, I just wanted to get this out here. So not many people will know about this so I thought I'd tell you all why he is my idol:

As an asthmaic I have days where I struggle with my chest and on those days I just want to curl up in a ball and cry until I can cry no more.

You may be thinking "It's only asthma" but to me it's the reason I've been stared at in the street, the reason people at school laughed at me. But it's also the reason I am who I am today.

There are not many celebs out there who are open about some stuff, but we all know Nathan has asthma. When I found this out it made me see him in a different light. He was more than just Nathan Sykes from The Wanted, he was someone I could look up to.

Nathan can run about on stage and you can't even tell he has asthma, well I can't do that anymore. Over the years being around smokers has caused my asthma how it is today. It does get me down at times as when the weather changes it messes with my chest. If it gets too hot I can barely breathe, and even now as I write this, just minutes after taking my inhaler I'm once again wheezing.

I have often seen people making Imagines where Nathan ends up using his inhaler due to having sex, they obviosuly don't see the harm in it. But to a follow asthmatic it's upsetting, especially if they don't understand what asthma actually is.

Anyway back to the point of this... Over the past 3 and a bit year of being a fan Nathan has taught me asthmatics can do anything they want, even if they don' t think it possible.

No other musician has ever had this kind of effect on me, knowing my idol hows exactly how I feel on a daily basis is... I can't explain it.

Yes I know there are people out there with more serious conditions than asthma. But did you know... People can actually die because of asthma?

Hold your breath until you can't hold it anymore... Feel how tight your chest is? That's how an asthmaic feels regularly, except just breathing doesn't always make it better.

I know what it's like to be stared at in the street because I pull out my inhaler.... It makes me feel ashamed sometimes... It makes me feel like I should hide away out of view of people as I ue this simple device to make my breathing easier. It shouldn't be that way.

I'd love a cure, so I could be normal... I don't know what it's like to being able to breathe without my chest often getting tight.

It's scary....

Now look at Nathan... Tell me how an asthmatic can't look up to him. Tell me how people can't joke about his needing his inhlaer.

Cos I can't... Cos I know what it's like....

Pic of Nathan at the side holding a sign of how being asthmatic makes you feel..... This is off the Asthma UK facebook.
