The mission, the battle, the death, the loss. Some mission this turned out to be, especially on valentine's day. The day of love turned into a bloody massacre of millions maybe even billions. Thanos had released his army upon all of earth, their herculean forces crushing the heroes like bugs, their blood soaking down to the Earth's core with the slightest ease. Tony overlooked the city, below fires burned furiously along the skyline. Its black smoke colliding with the light and eating it whole, this was the day humanity would fall.
"Hey tony I could use your help down he-"Steve yelled into the intercom before static filled the airline. Pushing all power to his boosters he sped to his husband, it couldn't be good not at all. If Steve was kil- no he couldn't think that no, he was going to be fine they were all going to be fine. A stray blast hit his side knocking the air out of his lungs, a sickening crack was heard in the suit followed by another pop. His suit was unable to stabilize itself and he crashed into a side building, taking four walls with him before stopping.
"Sir your suit is at 30% and dropping drastically, I wouldn't try anything too stupid." Jarvis mono-toned. Tony only huffed at his AI's response, straightening up he shook the debris that dusted his suit, and jumped back into the fiasco of a world war. Apparently as he rested his head, Thanos had landed down in the middle of the street carrying what seemed to be a person, shit. The world seemed to slow as he rushed towards the giant, it's grip tightening on the man who hung too limp.
"LOKI!" Tony screamed, his broken ribs rumbling in his chest, but he was too late. Blood splattered everywhere the entangled mess that was left was nothing to salvage, Loki was gone. Tears welled in his eyes and dropped like dead flies, Loki had tried his best to turn around his life and was rewarded with a fatal death.
"You bastard!" he mumbled as he went to charge the purple giant, there was no point in fighting anymore, but at least he could try to avenge his lost friend. Thanos chuckled heartily and swatted Ironman away down the street with out a single sweat. Tony's world swirled into a giant blur before the ground met up to him in a flash, his ears ringing and his body even more so broken in bits and pieces.
"Less than 4% sir.." Tony heard his AI but took no heed to the warning and tried to get up, failing to do so he flopped back down to the ground, the dust and debris lifting around him a dancing in the sun's rays, it would be beautiful any other time but he was dying and he knew it. He snorted to himself then chuckled, the great tony stark is dying, he thought before letting the thought set in, he had failed the mission already. Only 6 hours into the invasion, if only he could se-.
"Tony?" a voice rasped, it was frail, weak and broken," Tony.. it's me Steve..."
"Steve?!" Tony bolted up but fell back once again and turned to see his lover next to him, lifting the face plate he looked at the figure of his husband. Blood seeped out onto the pavement and bones stuck out in places they shouldn't be, he looked like shit they both did, everyone did. But those blue orbs were a safe haven and Tony felt himself relax under their gaze, he smiled weakly before feeling the wave of tiredness overflow him. With the last of his strength, he stared warmly back into the dying, oasis and simply stated
"Happy Valentine's Day, my love.."
