"God, please be with me through this. I don't know what do do."
<- -><- -><- -><- -><- -><- -><- -><- -><- ->-The worst day of Joanna's life flashed back vividly in her dream. "Dad, please, please don't hurt mom!" Joanna sobbed, pulling on her fathers arm. He shoved her away violently, going back for another hit at her mom. As soon as he swung his hand back, Joanna screamed as loud as she could, "Don't hurt my mom!" With all the strength she had, Joanna tackled her dad, throwing him down to the floor.
"Mom! Get help, now!" She yelled, running down the hall to get away from the drunkened monster. Her mother shook her head, running to the front door, to the neighbors house.
Joanna ran to the bathroom and locked herself in there, unaware that her father was knocked out by her brave move. As she hid under the cabinet, she closed her eyes and did what she never has done before, prayed.
"I know there's someone out there, and that you have seen all of this. Why, why am I being put through this? Help me! Help me out of this living hell! I'm tired of being scared and I need help!" Tears ran down her cheeks, replacing her old ones, as she put her forehead on her knees. Moments later, she heard a rush of people come into her home.
"Joanna? Joanna! Where are you?" She heard her mom yell as footsteps and silent voices filled the house. Joanna slowly made her way out from the cabinet and opened the door. She stook her head out the door, and looked down the hall. Sure enough, there were at least a dozen people in the house, with police lights shining outside.
"Oh, Joanna!" He mom sped over to her and embraced her in a adoring hug, weeping. "He's never going to hurt us again baby girl. We are safe," Joanna leaned into her mother, hugging her as tightly as possible. "I love you mama," she whispered while tears ran down her face. "I love you too baby girl."
The momment was quickly interrupted by a officer. "You two need to be checked by the medical team. If you could just follow me," he said, giving the mother and daughter a sympathetic smile. Joanna's mother took her daughter's hand and followed the officer to the ambulances.
"Oh, dear heavens!" An elder medical member exclaimed, looking at the two. "Come here dear ones, and let us get you all fixed up."
