It wasn't our intention to become lesbians. In fact it wasn't our intention to cause the end of so many in the pointless battle that almost ended our kingdoms. If this was on purpose we won't have risked our lives, our families and our friends to be untrusted, disrespected, and unloved just for a simple romance. It's just one of those things you can't control like I didn't choose to be a vixen. I didn't choose to be born in the Fire Kingdom. If I could have chosen, I would have chose to be born a reynard in the Ice Kingdom just so I could be with Quietsong, but life isn't like that. After struggling to even stay alive to this point, I finally was allowed to take Quietsong as a mate, and our two kingdoms combined in peace. Well, most of the time. Now, I could finally tell the young pups the story of us as pups, younger than them, who changed the kingdoms forever...

"Look, my queen! The princess has just opened her eyes." The sunlight seeping into my cave den burned my eyes, and the sharp air tickled my lungs. I got used to these new sensations instantly and peered around. There were only three foxes in the den. Two were reynards and the other was a vixen. The reynard closest to the den entrance was the one who had spoken. The other rested his head on the back of the vixen who was wrapped around me.
"Although she's the oldest, she was the last to see the world. Her sisters are already playing outside," said the vixen I found to be my mother and Queen of our kingdom.
"A true leader waits until the right time," said the lone reynard.
My father laughed falsely, "A true leader would fight for their kingdom until they either win or die trying."
My mother glared at my father with disbelief, "Not unless she trains as a healer like I did, or maybe she has the qualities of a hunter or a guardian." At first, I didn't understand how training worked, but I was at least six moons away from being a stem pup with that business.
What I didn't know was that the king, King Sharptail, announced a pup as a stem pup in training to be a hunter, guardian, healer, or pirate depending on its born skills and inheritance from their parents. My father was a pirate and so were my sisters' hope to be. There was no doubt I was going to train as a pirate. The kingdom already had enough healers though my mother, Queen Birdtail, thought I was too sweet for this position. This is why my mother named me Sweetpaw.
Birdtail stood up and stretched, "Now that the last one has woken up, I could finally go for a walk outside." She glanced at me, "You can come, too." I bounced up and bounded out the opening of the cave on unsteady legs. I halted and froze looking down into a hollow from the overhang our cave rested on. Dozens of foxes swarmed throughout the dip. Some basked in the sun, some were training in small groups, and some climbed up the rocky sides to get to the forest beyond.
"Quite beautiful, isn't it?" Birdtail's white pelt glowed in the high sun's light. I tried to see my own tail, but all I saw was the white tip of my tail. I sadly gazed up at my mother's ice blue eyes.
"Huh!" Birdtail raised her head up high and smiled, " I know what you want. Follow me." She leaped down to the clearing, and I followed. The passing foxes bowed with respect saying Queen Birdtail's name. We reached the wall, and Birdtail hopped from ledge to ledge with ease until she made it to the top. She looked down at me, "You coming?"
I nodded. There were several holes where I could fit my paws that that weren't very far apart. I slowly brang myself up to the slippery grass. Birdtail's eyes gleamed with pride. She took off into the forest, and I hustled to catch up. I met her on the edge of a calm, clear pond.
"Look down to see how beautiful you are, Sweetpaw." Birdtail tossed her nose to the water.
I looked down to see my reflection. I was a beautifully heather colored long fur with teal eyes like the water. I smiled, and my teeth showed. Two rows of pure white teeth with two sharp fangs each. My mother was white; I was beautiful.
