Ravenstone and Deadlight loved each other and wanted to be mates, but after a battle, Deadlight insisted he be with her best friend Burntfire.
Mudfern had already named her pups before they were born. She said if she had a reynard, she would name him Lionpaw after her mate, and if she had a vixen, she would name her Willowpaw.
Thistlelight had a crush on Burrleap until she became a full pirate. Then, she only wanted him to be Queen after she killed her eldest sister.
Echorock had given Thistlelight her sixth sense and was trying to lead her to her destiny. Thistlelight was supposed to be the next queen, but she was burn with evil in her heart.
Author's Note
Being a lesbian myself, I was able to transfer my feelings onto Sweet-tail so other readers would be able to see through my eyes. In reality, if you're different, people would think badly of you. With the white and colored people separation, if you were a different color than white, you were punished for something you couldn't control. Sweet-tail couldn't change her sexuality by wishing she could gain interest in Thornstar. Sweet-tail was direly punished, but she was able to save her life with an old prophecy. In reality, people don't have prophecies and aren't as lucky as Sweet-tail. People are punished because they are different but are urged to be unique.
Sweet-tail's story was originally going to be about her finding a Gothic, black fox from the Ice Kingdom who ate poisonous rose petals. They meet in the clearing between the two borders while dancing their stress away. At the war, only pirates were allowed to participate. When Sweetfire meets Quietrain on the battlefield, she refuses to fight and is held captive in a cage where she was able to break free, take over, and unite the kingdoms.
