when my grandma found out i was bisexual, she didn't question it. i was afraid it would drive a wedge between us, but it didn't. she didn't care if i brought a boyfriend or a girlfriend to meet her as long as they made me happy. she would offer them food, tell them to make themselves at home, ask them about their lives. and that was what truly made me happy.
i remember one time i told her that i wanted to move out because i was sick of everything. she just nodded, held my hand and told me it would get better. she didn't tell me i was exaggerating, didn't accuse me of being childish. she never made me feel like my opinions didn't matter because i was young and didn't have as much experience as her or any of the adults i tried to talk to.
god, i miss my grandmother. she was one of the best kinds of people. she was understanding.
