I saw Trea watching me from the bottom of my driveway. His face was so broken and empty, revealing how much of a lost child he really was. My parents piled boxes into the back seat of the car, reminding me that he wouldn't be able to sit there and come with us. I glanced solemnly down the driveway as I slung my backpack over my shoulder. Life isn't always what you think it is going to be. It constantly surprises you, breaks you down, and gives you more happiness then you have ever felt before and all in such short notice. I walked down the driveway and stood in front of him. He brung me into a hug, holding me close against him for a moment.

"You said we would be forever." I whispered into his ear. I pulled away from him, goodbye tears brimming in my eyes.

"Evie, you will always be my forever." He said quietly, gazing down at his shoes. The sound of my parents beeping the horn filled the air. I turned slowly and walked up the drive to my car, dragging my shoes along the gravel. I opened the back door and threw my bag onto the floor. I looked back at him before climbing inside the car. We started to move backwards down the driveway. I gazed sadly out the window, him now standing outside my car door. I placed my hand against the window, trying to connect with him one last time. The vehicle pulled onto the street, moving away from my home. From my neighbourhood. From Trea. From everything I had ever known. I turned and looked out the back window, he ran after the car, yelling out for me to stop. To come back and not leave him there. I didn't know what would happen to us. I guessed I wouldn't see him again, but something deep deep inside told me I would. He eventually stopped running and fell to his knees in the middle of the road. I watched him until he was out of sight.

Present day

He hunched over the table, holding the tip of the needle against his skin. His hand was shaking with need. Need for his fix. He let out an agitated sigh, moving the needle away from his arm. He knew he couldn't inject himself while his hands were shaking like that. Withdrawal was a bitch, but the temporary buzz was worth it. The warmth that encased him and made him forget about his childhood, was an escape from the fake friends and empty life that he walked into as soon as she left him kneeling on the street. He held his breath and brought the needle back to his bruised arm. He pushed the tip of the needle into his skin, releasing the drug into his body and exhaling at the same time. He pulled the needle out an threw it carelessly into a trash can. The effects seemed to take their tool instantly. He started to fell less lonely and lost, the pain he had felt for so long subsided a little bit and a comfortable warmth encased him. He leaned backwards into the arm chair, putting his feet up onto the cluttered coffee table. He noticed big bruises on the back of his legs from previous injections but decided to momentarily brush them out of his mind. He closed his eyes and tried to think of something. Something not her.

"Steven! Stop it!" He walked up to her, cornering her against the wall.

"You stupid bitch! You think you can lie to me like that?" His voice ripped through the air like fire, burning his victims defences, leaving her helpless and weak.

"Steven..." She begged. "Please.... I didn't do anything..." Tears rolled down her already bruising cheeks. His face was red with anger, not caring about what his girlfriend had to say.

"Why were you talking to him?" He yelled. She let out a helpless cry, the spite in his voice terrifying her. She knew it would have been hopeless trying to calm him down and make him see the truth, yet it was all she could do.

"He was just asking for directions Steven, I swear!"

"What the fuck did I tell you about yelling at me Evie!" He roared. Se didn't even try to defend herself anymore, just let out a small whimper and covered her face as he beat her. He hit her in the side of the head, causing her to yelp out and fall to the ground. While she was down, he kicked her. He kicked her stomach, back, legs, face, any part of her body he could kick he did. Sickening thuds were filling the atmosphere, though her ears were ringing to much for her to hear them. Blood filled her mouth and she spat it out onto the floor, causing him to beat down on her harder. After he felt she had learned his twisted lesson he strode out of the house like nothing had happened. Then there, on the cold hard floor all alone she started to cry.
