A gruesome scene met the Space Corps backup unit as they reached the euthanasia chamber. The door was bolted shut from the inside, forcing them to use metal cutters to melt through the solid metal.
The damaged lights flickered over a nightmarish scene. Spectra and an entire squad of security guards were lying dead in their own blood. Red smears covered the walls as well as the floor, and many of the guards had gruesome wounds that were clearly not created by any known weapon. Deep gouges decorated the walls and floor in a wild circular pattern like a storm of lightning and knives had torn through. Wild bullet holes peppered the walls.
The seat that should have held a dead Halpha was empty and unmarked by blood or bullet holes.
Stunned, the team entered the surreal scene.
"What happened here?" one of them asked, his terrified face concealed by his helmet. "No one could have gotten in. The door was sealed!"
"It must have been the Halpha," another growled. "General Walker was right. We never should have kept him here."
They stood numbly among their fallen comrades. Spectra's glazed eyes still held a look of haunting terror.
"One boy... one boy did all of this?" a soldier said in disbelief.
"It wasn't a boy," A voice answered from the doorway. The squad all whirled to face the newcomer. General Walker entered the room, eyes roving over the carnage and destruction.
"It was a monster. A monster that is on the loose, and must be hunted to extinction. For the sake of our soldiers, for the sake of the galaxy."
His eyes burned with hatred.
"No Halpha can survive."
