My name is Quill. One year ago, I had a falling out. His name was Blaze. He made a remark on my kind, that didn't settle well. He said all chimeras where demonic, disgusting creatures. But, technically I counted as one, so I left. I left Long Scale for a year. I didn't go to Avalon for a year. I came back after year, and I remember running for my life from thousands of other species. They were looking for Long Scale. It had fallen off the map, and no one could even teleport to it. A day after I learned this, I shifted into a moon wolf body, since as a Dragon Elder I had been given the ability to shift into any kind of creature. I tried teleporting to Long Scale, but it threw me in the middle of a forest. There was a barrier set up around Long Scale that only dragons could sense, so I walked through. Everything looked like a forest from the outside, but inside, it was the great Long Scale I had grown to love. Immediately, a swarm of dragons came and dragged me to the Great Hall of Elders. I remember looking up into Blaze's eyes, and seeing an old friend no more. All I saw was a dragon who had an evil power in his eyes. Terra was quiet, her eyes full of sorrow and grief. But, Cyril's eyes weren't his. His real eyes were a bright light blue, but something had happened. All color had been drained. They were a saddening grey, and nothing but emptiness was left. Volteer was nowhere to be seen. I was thrown in a cage before a trail. My whole family was caged up, and my friends were here too. The Blaze who had put me here was no longer the Blaze I had as a friend. Hours later, the prisoners where set free and I was chained in the middle of the Great Hall. They forced me out of the fake form, and there was light in Terra's eyes. A smile had creeped on her face, but Cyril's face remained the same. He was getting old, and it was clear he as too weak to fight anything Blaze was doing wrong. Blaze was roaring with anger, telling me it was foolish to leave for so long, how Long Scale fell into disarray after I left, and how every hardship they had faced was my fault. He forced me out of the Hall, and I left without a word. I remember walking to the center of the plaza and tens of dragons gathered cheering. I remember talking to them, telling them change was coming, and looking out onto the crowd and seeing hope. The one dragon that was taller than the rest, the most engulfed, Valstrath. He was the eldest son of Blaze, and an idea had struck me. I flew over to him, and told him there was one sure fire way for a new age to come over Long Scale. It could only come if he stood up to his father. A hush had fallen over the crowd, but Valstrath nodded and flew over to the Great Hall. I remember seeing him burst through the Hall's door, standing tall and his voice without fear, as he challenged his father to a duel. He agreed, but his voice seemed too cocky.
This was three days ago.
To this day, Long Scale is no longer under Blaze's misguided tyrannical rule. Cyril has begun to train a pupil for when he passes, and Terra had been staying with her hatchlings and her mate Wisp, who were recently blessed with a new rule. Valstrath has taken the position of Fire Dragon Elder, and... well. I had to say my final goodbyes to an old friend, who was buried behind the Great Hall. Volteer has returned, who I learned was in hiding with his and Ember's dragonet, Pulse. He didn't want his kid to grow up with Blaze's old ways of leading. And well, I've returned and did something no one had heard of. I blessed a purple dragon's egg with the powers of water, which are surprisingly the most rare powers to have as a dragon. Even I'll need a successor, even though I won't die. Once the hatchling is grown to a dragonet, I will train it so it can learn the ways of a water dragon, since I had no water dragon trainer. But, that's later. For now, I have a treaty to organize.

So a little explainer for this one-shot. This is what's been happening in the world of Avalon, the world one of my characters, Quill, lives in. I had the story planned out, but it was a bit easier to put this in a one-shot. So, so people can keep track of the elders of Long Scale since the change, here's a list.
Fire Elder
Name: Valstrath
Story: Came to power after killing his father after he fell to a misguided leadership.
Pupil: None, newest elderElectricity Elder
Name: Volteer
Story: Ruled under the great Ignitous, until his death and the rebirth of the world. He has a mate, Ember, and their one hatchling, Pulse.
Pupil: Pulse once old enough, second oldest elderFrost Elder
Name: Cyril
Story: Ruled under the great Ignitous, until his death and the rebirth of the world.
Pupil: Fjord, oldest dragon elderEarth Elder
Name: Terra
Story: Daughter of Terrador, until his death in the creation of the new world. Inherited the throne.
Pupil: One of her dragonets once old enough, middle dragon elder regarding age.Water Elder
Name: Quill, short for Tranquil
Story: born into a human body, but learned about Avalon through dreams and goes to Avalon when asleep. Had no Elder to live up to, since water powers are rare in Avalon. Soul is truly the soul of the soul of the First Dragon, which makes her technically the oldest of the elders, but not in body age.
Pupil: unnamed dragonet once old enough, second youngest elder when talking body age.
