I arrive at school just on time. I quickly find a parking space, and grab my bag to head inside.
"Hey, wait up!" Samantha calls
"Oh, hey, sorry." I say
"Do you have your schedule?" She asks
"No? I never got one." I say confused
"Oh my god, Madeline! Weren't you supposed to stop by a few days ago and sign all that paperwork? And like organize your schedule and stuff?"
"What paperwork? What schedule? What stuff?" I say, beginning to panic.
She rolls her eyes. "Okay calm down, go to the office, like right now and do that. I can't believe you forgot. Didn't mom tell you like 20 times?"
"You are so over dramatic. I doubt it's THAT big of a deal."
She laughs. "Well at least I am actually enrolled in this school right now! Unlike you!" Samantha begins to climb the stairs.
I roll my eyes, trying to hide that I am already panicking despite the fact that the day has hardly started.
"Look, just go sign your stuff, and then meet me in the cafeteria for lunch, okay? We can go get something together." She says.
Suddenly, Samantha stops climbing and turns around; walking back down the stairs, she grabs me and hugs me.
"I know it was hard leaving this last time. But I promise things will get better."
I sit there, embracing my sister. Her words somewhat comfort me, but I can feel the tears beginning to form in my eyes and I know I have to stop this.
"Okay that's enough, you sound like mom." I laugh, trying to cover up my sadness, but I don't think she buys it.
"Okay. Don't forget! Lunch! Cafeteria!" She waves, and retreats back up the stairs, as I continue going straight to find the office.
I arrive at the office, and open the door slowly. I see a heavy woman, with dark brown hair and dull blue eyes sitting at the desk on the phone. She waves for me to sit down.
I turn around, going to sit down, when I see a boy about my age. No scratch that. I see a VERY attractive boy my age. I take a long look at him. He has beautiful cropped fawn hair, with taupe eyes. His perfectly sculpted chin contains slight stubble, and his mouth forms in an uneven way. I move my eyes down to see his arms, practically bulging out of his shirt; as if any second the shirt might rip, exposing his chiseled abs, which I can see slightly outlined from under his clothing.
"You know, it is very impolite to stare love." He says in a elegant, yet rough, British accent, cocking his uneven lips into a smile
"Oh. No. I wasn't-" I stutter, my cheeks turning bright red.
"Relax, I was kidding. Take a seat." He motions his head to the empty seat next to him. So I quickly remove my bag from my shoulder and take a seat. I can suddenly smell his scent stronger; it's a somewhat fresh woodsy cologne. Damn he smells good. I think to myself.
"Hello?" He asks
"What?!" I say startled
"I asked what your name was love." He says, smiling again.
"Oh. My name... My name is Madeline. What's yours?" I say
"My name is Tristan." He says
"Oh nice to meet you." I say quickly. Why would I say that, that makes me sound so old. Ugh.
"You're new aren't you love?" He asks
"How do you know that?" I say
He laughs, a sexy, husky laugh. "This school is not THAT big, and plus I have been here all my life and lets just say I know all the information on the hot babes situation. And you are a hot babe situation I have not yet gotten the pleasure of dealing with, so therefore I know that you are new."
Did he just call me a hot? I feel myself blushing slightly, as I look down. "Makes sense." I say quietly.
We sit in silence for a few moments; and I sit looking at my phone. Still no new emails. I knew she didn't want to meet me.
I was so lost in my thoughts, again, that I had yet to feel eyes on me, eyes that seem to be analyzing my every feature as I sit here. I quickly look up.
"You know, staring is impolite." I snap at him.
"I'm not staring. I'm observing, love. Big difference." He laughs that perfect laugh again, and looks away.
I put my phone down and look at him. "So if you are not new, why are you in here."
"Just got in some trouble." He says quietly.
"Oh.. Like serious... or just like detention or-"
He cuts me off, "I don't really want to talk about it."
I get the impression that he has a secret, but I also get the impression he is upset with me for asking, or possibly upset with himself for being in the situation. I don't know, and I don't think I want to.
I yawn.
"Am I boring you love?"
I laugh slightly. When suddenly, the woman behind the desk slams the phone down, "Alright let's see.." She looks at her clipboard. "Oh good grief, Tristan. Really? You're back again?" She sighs
"My dear Rosanne. Did you miss me?" He says
"Just go in, he's probably waiting." She rolls her eyes, filling out something on her clipboard.
He gets up, and then spins back on his heals to look at me. "I'm sure I will see you around love." Giving me a small wink, he heads into the office to the left, shutting the door.
I feel myself melt by his words. No. I can't do this. Not after what happened last time. I will just avoid him so he can't make me feel this way.
"Dear Rosanne" as Tristan calls her, then calls my name about 10 minutes later, and she escorts me to the counselors' office where I fill out my paperwork and get my schedule. By the time I leave the office, I realize I am almost late for my third period class.
I quickly rush up the stairs to English, opening the door to find everyone already seated.
"Well, nice of you to finally join us." The teacher says snottily. Causing a few students to snicker. I quickly go up and hand her the paper from the counselor, saying that I was to be excused if I was late, but she doesn't seem to care. She simply throws it onto her desk without even glancing at it, as she continues to analyze the paper in front of her.
"Hmm... Take a seat next to Davis." She says looking up for a brief second, and then goes back to whatever she was writing before.
I turn around and search the class, seeing no empty seats, until I look at the last table in the corner of the room. Locking my green eyes with his taupe eyes. It was him. I should of known when I smelt that fresh cologne.
"Anytime now, Taylor." The teacher says.
I shuffle over there and take a seat next to him.
"I knew I would see you again, love."
