Seiryu is the Eastern part of the quadrant, and one which is represented by a Dragon. While at times the color of Spring is usually green, Seiryu is depicted as a blue Dragon in part because Dragons were thought of by the ancient Chinese to be aquatic creatures that reside in the sea. Spring is also thought of to be a rainy season, so the color blue is also indicative of water. As one of the oldest, most powerful, and respected of all Chinese mythological creatures, the dragon was usually symbolic of authority and strength, and was usually worn as such by major figures of power or the royalty (Nakago even wears what could be seen as a Dragon's Claw for a shoulder plate). The seven "seishuku" that make up Seiryu are: Nakago (heart), Soi (chamber), Ashitare (tail), Suboshi (horn), Amiboshi (throat), Miboshi (basket), and Tomo (root).

Seiryu

The god Seiryuu protects the eastern country of Kutou, in what appears to be ancient China. Kutou is a warring country with an Emperor who covets other lands, especially his southern neighbor, Konan.

Since Seiryuu is the god of metal and war, Kutou looks to him for guidance in their endeavors to seize and conquer.

As with Suzaku, the only way the devotees of Seiryuu can summon their god for divine intervention is through his priestess, Seiryuu no Miko. When summoned, Seiryuu grants his miko three wishes and the people of Kutou hope she will wish for their conquering advantage.

Seiryuu rules over the easternáquadrant of the sky. Again, just as with the southern sky, this region has seven star constellations, each with its own protector, or Seishi. Those seven seishi must be gathered together in order for Seiryu be summoned. Each has a distinguishing blue kanji symbol that appears on their body that indicates they are a Seiryuu seishi.
