I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling. I can hear my parents fighting downstairs. For a moment I think of going down there to tell them what happened, but that will make them even more mad.

I sigh and sit up. I walk to my window and open it, climbing out to sit on the roof. I smile softly as a cool breeze blows past and I close my eyes taking it in. This is where I feel like I belong. Just out here with no one but the wind.

When I go back inside my dad is waiting at my door. I tilt my head but don't say anything.

"Where were you?"

I don't respond.

He walks towards me and grips my arm tightly.

"I said, where were you?"

I clench my jaw and pull my arm out of his grip.

"Leave me alone."

He laughs then, a sickly sound. I cringe away and move past him down the stairs.

I walk into the kitchen and see my mom sitting at the table, head in hands. I walk past her to the fridge. I grab an apple and take a bite looking at her.

"Why were y'all fighting?"

She looks up at me then.

"Same as always.." She rubs her eyes and stands up.

"I don't like him."

"I know you don't, Christina."

I sigh and look at Richard as he walks down the stairs. I give him a fake smile as I make my way back to my room.

I walk in my room and close the door. I look for some clothes and settle on a pair of ripped up short shorts and a tanktop. I tie my boots and grab my bag walking back down stairs.

"No Maggie! I don't care if she's 17! She needs to be responsible!"

I pause at the base of the stairs and raise an eyebrow.

"Um..?"

They both look at me and I feel satisfied when Richard's eyes widen.

"What the hell are you wearing?!"

"Clothes." I smirk and walk to the door.

"Get your ass back here!!"

"Nah I'm good."

I walk out the door and slam it shut. I grab my skateboard and stand on it. I push off down the street and smile.

I ride down to the city and stop. I look at the building and smirk. I read the sign again before walking in. 'Tattoos and piercings'

I walk in and up to the counter. The lady working it looks at me and smiles.

"Hello, how may I help you?"

I return the smile and look at the pictures of tattoos and piercings.

"How old do you have to be to get a piercing?"

"You have to be at least 16."

I smile more and nod.

"I would like this one." I show her the picture of snake bites.

She takes the picture and walks around the counter.

"Follow me please."

I follow her as she walks to a curtained area. She motions me to sit and I obey. I lay back and smile.

"I'm Lilly by the way."

"Chris."

"Chris. That's a cool name." She smiles and cleans my lip. "I'm not gonna lie. This is gonna hurt."
