I roared loudly, slashing and cutting through every single creature that moved. Time is running out. My body burned and a painful sensation ran through my entire body. However, I refuse to let that slow me down. If Peyton can handle fighting those hounds, the least I can do is finish this. As I ran, I could see the library coming up. My eyes brightened as I grinned wide. I'm so close! Hope filled my heart, giving me new energy as I ran faster. I saw a large creature blocking my way. I grinned wide, turning slightly as I ran up onto a car. I jumped off the car, going over the creature. I tilted my sword down, stabbing it in the head as I landed on my feet. I winced in pain, knowing I can't go on forever. I grinned proudly, glancing back to see ashes of the creature. I was about to run again, until I heard a familiar voice.
"Nathan?" my mom called out. My eyes widened as I slowly turned toward the voice. My mother stood there with a smile, along with my classmates. "Nathan, you don't have to do this. You don't have to be the hero. You can be whoever you want to be. You can be with Peyton and Lucas. You can have fun like you always did. I can give it to you. I can give you an island away from all the harm. All you have to do is give me the book," she said softly, walking toward me. For a moment, I wanted to do that. I want to go back to the happy life I had. I want to hang out with Lucas and Peyton like the old times. I want to complain about how boring life is again. My hand twitched, as I lowered my sword. My mom smiled, touching my cheek slowly. "That's a good-" she gasped in pain before letting out a scream. I closed my eyes, yanking out my sword from her stomach.
"I'm sorry, but I won't be giving up for my own happiness. Besides, you can't bring back Lucas. You can't bring back anyone that you killed. And another thing, you're not my mother," I muttered coldly. As my mother faded into ash, I stared at my other friends. Now that I'm getting a better look at them. The shadows must have got to them since each looked like how Lucas looked. I pointed my sword. "Come at me," I muttered angrily. They all charged at me as I attacked back.
After a few more minutes, I started to run toward the library again. Sweat went down my forehead when I arrived at the place. I panted hard, wiping my forehead. My vision blurred for a second.
"Finally," I muttered out, straightening up as I walked toward the side of the library. I climbed up the ladder, getting on top of the roof. Though before I could do anything else, something grabbed my ankle. My eyes widened when it yanked me backwards. I let out a gasp as I started to fall forward. I slammed my sword down into the roof, slowing my fall until I was just over the edge. I panted, glancing down to see the ground. Using my last amount of strength, I kicked it's hand before forcing myself back up. I thought I was safe for a few minutes until I felt weird. I groaned in pain as my body began to burn. I glared, realizing time was running out. I slowly crawled up to the pyramid, taking out the chip. I inserted the chip into the camera.
Nothing happened, making it anger and annoy me. "Why isn't it working," I asked, feeling frustrated. I balled my fists tightly as I punched the ground. "Please...please work," I begged, closing my eyes tightly. I bit my lip tightly, causing my lip to bleed. The blood trickled down my chin and onto the ground. Suddenly the roof began to glow and the pyramid vibrated. My eyes widened, shaking slightly. Quickly, I took out the book and raised it to the air. The pyramid sent a large gold colored beam up into the sky. I slowly stood up, standing in front of the beam. "Return back to your prison!" I shouted loudly, staring up at the sky. At first, nothing happened but then the book in my hand began to burn. I gasped, dropping the book onto the ground. I rubbed my burnt hands, feeling the book melt. "What? What's happening," I asked in surprise.
"You did it, boy. You have ended the Black Plague. With this book gone, the shadows will be forced in," the familiar man's voice echoed in my head. I fell onto my knees in relief as I sighed. I watched as the book melted away into ash. Then darkness began to get pulled into the light. I jumped to the side when one tried to grab me. I stared in horror, watching as the creatures screamed out in agony and anger as they were getting dragged. Though that wasn't why I was horrified, the reason was because as they were getting dragged in, I saw faces. Faces of humans, men and women, child and elderly. These monsters were real people who once lived on this earth. Yet, they killed so many other people. It disgusted me so much. I heard screaming for help, begging to be released, and threats of death. Though I didn't move from my spot, my eyes narrowed in anger. No, I won't help any of them, not when they have hurt my family and friends.
As the shadows were all captured again, the beam vanished. I watched as the world around me began to change. I panted hard, not believing that it was all over. I smiled slightly, lying back down as I closed my eyes. It's finally over.
