We were walking along the side walk, my mother and I. We were on our weekly walk. Every Saturday we walked to the Market Place, bought some fresh foods, then walked home. This was how we spent our 'family time' together as it was just me and her. We were on our way to the Market Place, just now entering the town in which the Market Place was held. Our conversation went a little something like this:
"How was your week, honey?" she asked.
"Same as always, Mom" I would always say.
"You always say that."
"Well it's always true."
After that the conversation would drift into something about classes, teachers, afterschool things, or what I'm doing over the weekend. This time we talked about my Mom's job. She just got a new one as a flourist as she was just laid off for a month.
"Being a flourist, doesn't pay alot y'know," she said, "It's substantial but it would help if you got a job." When she said this, it reminded me to start job hunting. I've wanted a job for the past year but have not been able to as school had its demands.
"I was thinking of getting a job at the smoothie shack. I hear it pays well" I said. My mom nodded her head in agreement, that it was a good job.
"As long as it doesnt take our family time away" she said. I laughed and nodded.
"I promise" I said. After I uttered these words, thats when it happened.
