CHAPTER 1: The new world

MAGIC. It's a simple concept, but it's also a complicated one. With many ways to use the word magic, to most it's used to describe something unbelievable. To others it's used to simply state the obvious, the fantasy concept of casting spells. Video games have it right with a Mana cost, but there is something games have wrong. That is the fact that magic is real.

To the untrained eye magic is labeled off as miracles in your realm, but in mine it's seen as the norm, the standard of living. Before I get ahead of myself I should introduce you to who is talking. Hi, my name is Geovanni Akira Kazumos. It's a mouthful I know so people call me Geo. I am 16 years old and my blood type is A positive. I am 5'9 with short brown hair like my mothers and dusty blue eyes from my father. You came to hear my tale of fantasy and adventure thinking "This can't be real. This is just some book I found at the local bookstore." But that isn't true, all of the stuff I am about to tell you is as real as you and your own life. So I guess with that I should start my tale, don't you agree?

I live in a world similar to yours but with a twist, that twist is the force known as Magick. Depending on how it's used it can be a tool to protect, a tool to destroy, or a way of life. To the citizens of my world it is a tool, but to the select few who are gifted with the ability to master a single type of magick and evolve it, they are the ones who have the power to control the universe and everything in it. The past few years of my life have been filled with one goal. To stop the ones who seek to conquer life itself. Don't think for a second that this is a regular work of writing; remember every detail or my actions will have been in vain. To protect my home, to protect the ones I love, to keep the world of Crios safe, I set out on journey to collectively learn the ways of each element of magick. There were many hardships, but nothing compared to the first obstacle. She was fierce and always ready to snap, with short dark brown hair that is borderline black, standing at a height of 5'1 at the age of 36, and a specialist in barrier magick. When I said I wanted to leave she kept me hostage. That's right that beast was... my mom.

We were sitting across from each other at the table eating breakfast. "But mom, why can't I go and learn from Mr. Zakarai. He is the best at flight magick!" I basically whine. This is the tenth time she said "No" this week. "Because, once you learn that magick you'll go off to one of those hooligan corporations and leave me here. ALONE." She emphasizes the last word. She always does that to make me feel guilty, but it won't work this time. "A Magick corporation? Those people won't even let me touch their sidewalks let alone allow me access to the inside facilities. Besides, I'd send you a message every few weeks to check up." It was all true; I just hope she'll buy it. "My answer is still no." my plans have failed yet again when she says that. "Ok, I give in today." I say standing up, making my way to give her a hug and take care of the plates. "I'm off to practice. I'll be home late again." I call out putting my shoes on and grabbing my ankle supports off the rack. "Not to-. " The door closing cuts her off as I begin strapping on my supports. "Creota ganju tinoka." I chant in the language of Magick. After my chant the supports around my ankles glow a dim green as my mana flows through them to create 2 large wheels on the bottoms of my shoes. (hehe excuse me, Hi it's Geo here. I'd like to explain what I just did. You see I was born with the magick of creation, though it sometimes doesn't work like it should. That's all, now back to my story.) I skate off to my school gym where I have strengthening class. "It worked. Today is going to be a good day." I couldn't have been more wrong.
