The Life I Didn't Know I Wanted (Under Editing)

Chapter 5

Xander POV

After about a half an hour of running we decide to take a break and go swimming in a pond we found.
"CANON BALL!!" Josh screams jumping into the crisp water. Causing some near by birds to flee from the trees they were perched on. Slade swan dives in and paddles around on his back. Just as I am about to jump in, my werewolf Ryder, who for some reason hasn't said a word all day starts to get agitated and that's when I hear it...a faint female scream coming from deeper in the woods.

I sprint off in the direction of the scream, still wondering why my wolf is going nuts. As I get nearer to where I thought the scream was coming from I hear another one, this time my wolf takes over and won't let me take control. As we run I pick up a wonderful smell...like vanilla and strawberries?

Finally we find the reason behind the scream. Some rouge had grabbed a human girl and was attacking her. She seemed to be owner of the vanilla and strawberry smell. The second my wolf saw what was happening he attacked pinning the guy to the ground and kicking a punching him repeatedly, he would have kept going to if it wasn't for the girl...she had started to crawl away and snapped a twig. My wolf turned around immediately and walked toward her. This scared her and she started to run. Ryder, not happy, runs after her and slammed her against a tree which just scared and hurt her more.
"DID HE TOUCH YOU!?" He screamed
At this point I finally realized why Ryder was ticked, why I smelled amazing things, and why my hands tingled when I picked her up! SHE WAS MY MATE!
"N-no." The my mate stuttered terrified
Ryder pushed her against the tree harder and yells when he sees the cut on her neck.
"HE DID HURT YOU! YOUR BLEEDING!" Ryder yells and starts growling scaring our poor little mate even more.
"Crap! Ryder stop your terrifying her!" I try and reason with him and get control back but he won't let me.

Suddenly Josh and Slade appear, praise the lord! They take one look at the bloody scene and the girl and put it together immediately.
"Ryder...let her go." Josh says worried
Ryder just grabs her tighter and yells "MINE"
"Please Ryder...let her go can't you see your hurting her?" Slade said which finally opened  Ryder's eyes to what he was doing, he let me take over right away.

I move her away from the tree and hold her lightly, electricity forming where ever I touch her due to the bond. "I'm so sorry princess, I never ment to hurt you, please forgive me!" I beg. She just looks at me confused and still scared. As I wait for  response or something from her I notice warm liquid on my hand, I pull my hand out from under her back and see blood. Ryder whimpers in pain seeing what he did to our mate. I look back up at her, she was a funny color....then her eyes started closing slowly...then she faints.
"NO NO NO NO!" I yell
Panicking I carefully flip her over and look at her back, shocked to see horrible scratches and wounds in her back from the tree...some caused by the rouge...some by me.

Just seeing her like this breaks my heart, I don't even know her name and I feel like my life depends on her. I quickly scoop her up in my arms and run to the pack house. I mind link the nurse and tell her to get ready and mind link the guys who I had left behind to get the guy and throw him in a cell.

I looked down at my beautiful princess, pale and wounded in my arms, and prayed to The moongodess she would be ok.
