Thought of the worse- One shot- Chicago Fire Dawsey

This is a one shot from the Chicago Fire episode "Telling her goodbye" 5x16

(this os will be in Gabby's pov!) 

Shots fired

I had to just leave him. Matt was shot and I had to drive away. I just thought of the worse. Swat arrived right away and I had to just wait. The Swat guy looked at me " shots were fired... nobody is going in..?" I looked at him " that was my husband... who was shot at!" He looked at me " were going to get in.... were doing our best.."

It took them an hour to get in. I was so worried and I couldn't imagine what was happening or how he was. They busted the doors down "Police... get on the ground... drop it now!!" Chief looked at Casey " Casey...hey..." I ran in " what... what happened..." Matt looked at me " Gab..." I looked at him " baby... stay with me... We need to get him to a hospital..." Chief looked at Kidd     " Kidd go with...." I looked at the chief " I'm ok..." He looked at me " your husband is shot... you can't work on him.." Brett looked at me " come on Gabby... we have to go." 

I got into the back of the rig with Brett. She looked at me "the bullet hit his chest and shoulder... everything will be ok..." Matt had a oxygen mask over his face to help his breathing, as of right now he was unconscious. I held Matt's hand " it's going to be ok baby... you and me were going to have a baby like we said... new chances huh!" 

We got to med. Brett took charge " 30 year old male... firefighter at our house... gunshot to the chest and shoulder.... he's stable enough for now..." Maggie looked at us " oh god it's Matt.." I looked at her " he has to live.." She looked at me " we will take good care of Matt of course..." Dr. Rhodes came over. He checked on Matt " bullet is in his chest... and it just grazed his shoulder..." I looked at him " will he survive this..." Dr.Rhodes looked at me " Gabby I will take very good care of Matt.." I looked at him " were married you know..." He looked at me " i know... congratulations on that... don't worry he will be ok... ok let's get him to the OR." 

I had to wait now. My husband was in surgery and I just had to wait. The rest of everyone came in. Hermann looked at me "Gabby..." I stood up " hey Hermann.." He looked at me " how is he?" I shrugged " Dr.Rhodes has him in surgery... he seems to think everything will be ok... but I just don know..." He took my hand " everything will be ok.." My brother came in " Gabs..." I hugged him tight " Antonio...hey" Antonio looked at me " he's going to be ok." I looked at him " you think so...." He looked at me " of course... Matt's a fighter!" 

We waited hours upon hours. It seemed like forever. We didn't know anything for all I know I could be a widow right about now. Time passed and we didn't hear anything quite yet. I was still waiting. Dr.Rhodes came out from surgery. I stood up " how is he..." Dr.Rhodes looked at me "stable... he's not out of the woods yet. The bullet hit his heart and we had to repair it... everything was fixable and he's stable. it's going to be a little while before he wakes up, but so far everything is looking good." I looked at him " can I see him..." He nodded " of course... but just you." 

I followed Dr.Rhodes to Matt's room. I was just happy that he's ok. I'm happy that I can just see him. He's alive, and still here with us. Dr.Rhodes looked at me " he's going to be under for a little while longer.. but you can of course sit with him.." I held Matt's hand " i'm here baby... I'm right here..." Dr. Rhodes looked at me " I'll check back in a little bit..." 

I was just sitting here " you know I've been meaning to say to you... it's our time now... We should start a family. I know everything this past year has been hard. with loosing the baby and Louie. I know were stronger. We can get through anything. We've been through just so much. We can get through so much more. We are... and I just really want to carry our baby. I was to be pregnant like any other woman..." Dr.Rhodes checked back in " everything ok.." I nodded " I was just talking to him.." He looked at me " that helps.." I looked at me " you know how we got married..." He shrugged "no..." I laughed " it was spur of the moment... we just knew. It was time for us I guess... and I'm happy for that day every day I wake up next to him..." Matt started to wake up " was so nice..." I looked at him " your awake.." He looked at me " what happened..?" I looked at him " you were shot.... Dr.Rhodes had to operate" Dr. Rhodes checked on Matt " your doing pretty good for after surgery.." Matt looked at him " when can I go home..?" Dr.Rhodes looked at him " 5-6 days... and a month off of work to recover...." 

I was staying with Matt tonight. I just couldn't leave him. I looked at him " you know I was still so worried. I just thought about the worst.." Matt looked at me " come here... lay with me." I got into the bed with him and rested my head on his shoulder " I love you..." Matt kissed my head " I love you too... you know I want to have a family with you... when I'm better we should really think about it.." I smiled " i'm ready... I want to have a baby."
