Christmas

Who would've thought that the day would end with more event than how it started.

"It's christmas, nobody should be alone on christmas." His sister's voice was still ringing in his head eversince he placed the phone back on its receiver. She's not wrong on that one, though her words kind of rubbed him the wrong way. It's not that she stole the line directly from the movie, Grinch, making him feel slightly grinchy inside. It's that, she's been forcing him to get out of his apartment for almost six months now. And if not for the fact that she lived, like, ten miles away. He would've taken her up on her unbearable nagging.

Well, what was he supposed to do? He had absolutely no plans of going back home to spend christmas and had made it clear that he won't. He's not gonna show up there and pretend to be all reverent and squeaky clean like what they would've wanted. And for god's sake, he wasn't going to show up there and pretend that he didn't get his heart broken by another guy. Might as well show up shit faced than see the look of disappointment on his parents' faces.

It's not his fault that human emotions can be so damn reckless. And it wasn't up to him to choose who he falls in love with, y'know----well that was utter bullshit. Of course it was up to him.

They were both straight guys, both as manly and gruff as the other. Hell, they even had the hots for Scarjo and Jlaw. But he guessed it was just that little twist of faith in a bar one night, and the shit hits the fan. Now he realized all those tumblr crap his little sister's been jamming up his ass was true. Everyone was indeed a little gay, but he didn't think it'd happen to him. He'd been playing basketball since he learned how to dribble, knew how to drop a teeth jarring punch, been pulling at girl's pigtails at the playground eversince he knew what it means of having a crush. But he had no idea, he'd learn how to suck a cock in just a span of twelve months Fuck, now he doesn't even cringe anymore when he calls himself gay. Way to shift gears, dude.

And so okay, he knew he shouldn't be so affected like this. It's been six fucking gruesome months he couldn't even move on. It's like he immediately grew a vagina after a year of hitting it off with a man. He was supposed to be the one who broke hearts, and dumped girls, not the other way 'round. But why was he so wrecked after Marcus. He didn't even mind if he got his ego stomped, crushed and spat on. He used to be so responsible, he finished college, got a job. He wore suits to work, and respectable ties, he even wore sensible shoes for goodness' sake. But when it comes to true unadulterated feelings, he guessed people just say fuck it to rational thinking.

And his sister couldn't nag his ears off enough to get him out of the comforts of his own apartment even if his life depended on it. He perfectly knew how to spend this christmas eve with cheers and jingles and shit like that, with good old cable tv series marathons takeout and beer. Or if he's really feeling merry he'd order fruitcake and eggnog just for the heck of it.

Ira's knock on 3A's door had been as uncertain as his rumination about inviting the guy who lived there for christmas eve dinner. Sure the guy was odd as fuck, and they never had the neighborly relationship of people who's been living across the halls for three years. Ira had been fine with that, because he himself was as introverted as his odd neighbor. But it was christmas. Obviously, the guy who once introduced himself in one of their flitting and coincidental (not to mention awkward) meetings in the building's elevator as Nick, haven't once left his apartment for weeks. Of course Ira didn't give a damn, he doesn't go around stuffing his nose into anyone's business. He doesn't even care enough to figure out Nick's deal. But what was he supposed to do. His mom was there, and everyone knew how taken his mom gets when she's lecturing Ira about his life. He made the mistake to mention Nick as a scape goat from her further inspection of his life. He couldn't just take back what his big mouth said, because his mom was going to nag him nonstop about his miserable life choices.
