((A/N: (Y/F/P)=Your favorite Pop))
*Author's POV*
Your mom and dad were once again fighting for the third time today, they always fought over stupid reasons like, "Why aren't the dishes washed!" Or "Why are you home late, what were you doing!" And other stuff like that, you never really got any peace and quiet, the only time you are able to get some peace and quiet is when you're able to sneak out the back door, sometimes you weren't very successful, but this time you were.
You made it through the gate that was in the backyard, and you ran off into the mid day afternoon. Getting out you thought was a good thing for you since getting away from the stress your parents gave was outrageous.
You made it to the gas station, you were known pretty well there since they gave you a free hot dog every time you went. A man always greeted you with a very polite smile and you returned it, that guy was named Mr. Cornell. The same workers worked at the gas station everyday and they were Jessie Rouge, Alessa Workman, and last but not least, Mr. Cordarrelle, the owner of the gas station.
You walked in and greeted everyone and they gave a greeting back, Mr, Cordarrelle came up to you like he usually did with his signature hot dog and gave it to you, "Parents fighting again Sweetie?" Sweetie was his nickname for you. You nodded to his question. He sighed to your answer. "When will they learn?" You just shrugged and you walked over to the pop machine. "Hey Sweetie, you can have one, on the house." You tilted your head, not knowing what "On the house" meant. "Sweetie it means you can have one for free." Mr. Cordarrelle reassured, you smiled and took out a (Y/F/P) and opened it up and started to drink it since all you had at your house was water. You were a very shy child, you didn't talk very much, but that's normal for a five year old.
You were about half way done with the pop, when you heard the doors to the gas station open. You looked around the corner, but to your surprise it wasn't your parents it was a monster family. You smiled and took out your soul, your soul was a green and a light blue, to what Mr. Cordarrelle told you the colors meant traits which the green meant kindness, and the light blue patience. As you could recall the monster families, this was a skeleton family. There was a father, no mother, and two boys.
One of the boys had a shirt that said, "Pun foo Master" on the front of it, and he also had on gym shorts with white tennis shoes, and a blue jacket that was a bit big for him, and he looked to be your age. The other boy was in a stroller he had a onesie on with a little red scarf around his neck, he looked to be two or three. You went over to Mr. Cordarrelle to get some more information, because for your age you were pretty smart since your father was a teacher, and your mother was an aid for special kids at your school. You were only in first grade, and you already knew your multiplication math facts.
"Sweetie, that's the Skeleton family, the one in the stroller is Papyrus, the small one with the blue jacket is Sans, and the father is W. D. Gaster, one of the smartest people on the planet." You smiled to Mr. Cordarrelle, seeming he knew what you wanted, you waved to the Skeleton family, and the one called Sans smiled and waved back. You went behind Mr. Cordarrelle, just a bit scared.
You loved the Gas station, everyday you meet new people, got free food and drinks and everyone is so nice to you. But at home, nothing was like that, you would be abused by your mom who would come home drunk on Saturday nights, it was hard having parents who were two different species. Your mom a monster, while your dad was a human. You liked to run away from home because the outside was so quiet and peaceful, and everyone you met in the outside world was so nice and friendly.
Mr. Cordarrelle poked you since you were so in thought, you looked up to him with a look saying, "What's up?" He smiled, "You were zoned out a bit Sweetie, so I just brought ya back I guess." You gave him a "okay" look and you went to the little toy aisle that the gas station had. You would always look at the sketchbooks and pencils.
At school you would always, when you had the chance, go down to the art room and ask the art teacher if you could hang out and draw and she would always let you since it was a daily thing and you were well know by all the teachers and also the principal to, because you would always bring the principal a snack from your lunch that you packed everyday for school. But right now it was the summer, so school was out.
As you were looking at the sketchbooks and pencils, you didn't notice the skeleton boy, Sans, come into the aisle. "hi, i'm sans, what's your name?" You jumped a bit from his voice, but then responded with a bit of sign language since you really didn't like to speak much. "(Y/N), that's a really cool name." You smiled at him because he knew how to read sign language. You two had a nice little conversation for a while. But then the gas station door opened, you gasp to whom it was, it was your parents.
You ran to Mr. Cordarrelle running behind him, he stood his ground agaisnt your mother. The two started talking and eventually started yelling at one another, you didn't want to go, you didn't want to get abused again. You wanted to stay at the gas station. Finally after ten minutes of yelling your mom finally gave up on trying to get you and she stomped out of the gas station. Sans was looking at you surprised and concerned. He walked over to you, and started to rub your back, trying to comfort you. You took this comfort in response and your tensed actions turned into soft, relaxed ones. You smiled to Sans and there were tears in your eyes. You hugged Mr. Cordarrelle, this was your way of saying "thank you" and he smiled and hugged back.
"Sweetie, I must tell you, your mom and dad are...well, Sweetie, they are getting a divorce, which means they are splitting up." Your body tensed up again to his words. "Your mother was coming to take you to an orphanage but I have decided that I will adopt you, which means I'm taking you under my wing, which also means, I'm taking you home." Your eyes swelled up with tears with joy and you hugged Mr. Cordarrelle harder than any hug you gave. Mr. Cordarrelle was in his mid-twenties, so he was at age to take care of you. You did something you haven't done in a long time, "Thank you, thank you so much!" You spoke, everyone in the gas station gasped in astonishment, they all finally figured out. You were to afraid to speak because of your problems at home, now you didn't have to worry about it anymore, so you spoke. And this starts out your story.
