Juniichi - POV;
The Kingdom of Auxilia holds administrative rule over the entire Country of Alterria. The Kingdom was always at odds both internally and externally as conflict persevered between it and other countries as well as among the various races all forced to share the same space.
This continued until about three centuries ago when under a certain King's rule harmony was established amongst the different species who were given no alternative but to band together and find peace with their neighbours in order to survive an invading threat. With the flow of time, many facts about this danger which encouraged the unity of the people was lost and this critical part of history was practically unaccounted for although never forgotten. Some claim it was a dragon while others say it was the wrath of the Gods but either way, the incident paved the way to peace for our land.
Life had continued as normal following this with the obvious change of interracial acceptance which had a great positive impact on the society in commerce, trading, finance, taxes and a slew of other aspects which the Royalty and the higher-ups immediately exploited. Nevertheless, the people seemed to be pleased despite all which had been occurring and prospered in the renewed nation.
Around eighty years ago something quite peculiar had happened.... or should I say appeared.
A new race of beings had suddenly been discovered overnight. They came from nowhere and had no records across all of history. They simply just came into existance as far as anyone could tell.
Eye witnesses had claimed to have been going about their nightly lives normally when the atmosphere abruptly became choking as if thick with some ultimate magic or power. Powerful winds had begun to blow, the seas raged with an unprecedented anger, lakes and streams had frozen over, the earth itself had begun to tremble with violent shaking, volcanoes spewed molten rock and ash and a bright light emerged from the eerie, black sky only to be eclipsed by an overwhelming army of shadows.
After a mere minute of the extreme weather conditions things had reverted to their original state as quickly and mysteriously as it began and left in the wake of the odd occurances were creatures made purely from the six elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, Shadow. They had no physical bodies and were deemed as merely conscious flames, puddles, soil and lightbulbs. This mentality would be short lived however.
As time went on, these immobile creatures slowly grew in size and before we could even fathom it, they were moving of their own accord. This alone wasn't too alarming but what happened next threw the population into panic.
One of them; a curious little patch of shadows had wandered into a cemetary during the funeral of one of the greatest generals to have ever fought in our army and as the coffin was lowered, he ventured onto the body. Horror filled the gravekeepers as they watched the zombified remains of the commander claw his way out from his home six feet under solid ground.
The regime immediately ordered the capture of the new species and they were placed under heavy surveillance in a restricted facility where they could be observed and experimented upon.
The majority of them had slowly died out in their captive places however the survivors not only survived, but thrived. They had slowly begun to morph, alter and adapt to the situations presented around them.
The scientists in charge would one day awake only to be both horrified and intrigued by what they would see. The creatures had taken a human form nearly indistinguishable from our own with very little exception.
Further analysis showed that the beasts were much harder to kill by conventional means as every organ, tissue and cell was made from the element to which the monster belonged and injuring it would only cause it to ooze said element before self healing.
