Veda Yeske was the smartest child all throughout her schooldays. Straight A's and a mind that could never stop learning. She skipped quite a few grades and got full scholarships to the most prestigious schools in America. She had a perfect attendance and a flawless record.
But there was one thing she didn't have, parents.
She was given up for adoption at the age of two when her family couldn't care for her anymore and she was taken to an orphanage. Many people would want this perfect girl in their family, except there was one thing. She seemed to know exactly what someone was thinking. If they were lying, she could tell. If they had a secret that they wouldn't share, she would know it. So there she was, stuck in that ratty orphanage until she was ten.
But finally Winter came along and Veda couldn't tell what she thought, which she found weird, well except a desire for tea. And teacups, and all things tea. Again. Weird.
But Winter could see nothing more than a perfect girl and adopted her, allowing her to be herself. And Veda didn't see anything weird about her mother until her third day in the house when she saw a teacup pop into her hands out of nowhere. That's when she found out the secret of Winter Yeske, feeling comfortable enough to tell her about her own 'ability' she tried so hard to hide.
Winter was accepting and knowing, telling Veda her stories. That's when Veda became a lot more open and confident in herself. She made friends and became one of the most popular kids in school and the smartest.
Of course that was until Veda's sweet sixteen, when it all fell apart.
