Underneath an old willow tree sits a young boy trying to shelter himself from the rain that plummeted down from the sky in large droplets. It was just another rainy day in Oregon and the boy pondered when the sun would shine again, for it had been raining in the small town of Canby for months now. Elliot had often found himself sitting somewhere dark and secluded, for he much preferred his own company over the meaningless moments of small talk with his peers. His mother often worried about him. He never quite understood her uneasiness.
The scrawny Brunette sighed deeply as he watched the rain drip from a few branches. Any moment now his bus would be arriving. With no time to lose the small boy dug through his bag and retrieved a cigarette; he'd always enjoyed the bitter taste of pallmall reds. He took a rough inhale before pushing out a thick cloud of smoke. Soon enough, through the thick cloud of fog and cigarette smoke, shown a bright yellow bus slowly coming to a stop in front of him. Elliot quickly stomped out his cigarette and slung his worn red backpack over his shoulder before heaving himself up the stairs. Several eyes clung to him as soon as his tall lanky body came into full view, as well as a few faint snickers from some. Elliot would often get bullied because of his appearance but aside from his exterior, he was a very sweet and talented kid.
He rolled his eyes before trudging to the very back of the bus where nobody could stare and make snide remarks about him... The ride to school was long and tedious. When they finally stopped outside CHS he scrambled to his feet and hurried off the bus before any of the school bullies noticed him. Elliot had a routine: Get on the bus, get off the bus, walk to his favorite spot behind the school building, out of sight, out of mind, and chain smoke his cigarettes until lunch time. It had been this way for the junior since his second year of high school. He had been a straight C student through most of his schooling, but after his family moved to Canby at the end of his freshman year things began to go sour. The boy was never able to fit in with the other students at Canby High, in fact they all tended to take a liking to hating his very existence. He never understood why it had to be that way but he soon came to accept it.
