Reunion

It's been 10 years.

Ai sometimes wakes up from nightmares of his father's death.
I always run in and comfort him.
He does the same for me when the same thing happens to me.
He's such a smart, strong boy. He looks so much like his father; that's what's kept me going.
That and Nagisa.

He's made a life for himself as a teacher. He's still adorable and scary.
What shocked most of us was that Nagisa and Karma started dating and eventually got married.
I was the maid of honor, lucky me.

Ai came home last week and started talking about what he'd learned in health class.
I started blushing when he got into detail. I had to cover his mouth.
He giggled and poked my cheek.

"Mommy are you ready?!" Ai shouted from downstairs.
I sigh softly looking into my vanity mirror. "Yes darling," I yell back. I walk down to him. "Are you sure you wanna go on your birthday?" I question.
"Mommy it's the anniversary so we have to go today." Ai replies, and I nod.
We walk to the old school building, where 3-E class was held.
Ai squeezes my hand once we were standing in front of the building.
I squeeze back and smile down at him.
He lets go of my hand and walks over to the grave the children created for their teacher.
I follow behind.
He sets the flowers down then goes into prayer mode.
I stand back and watch.
Tears threaten to fall but I manage to hold them back, for both my son's sake and mine.

"Aunty?" The familiar bluenette calls out from behind me.
I turn around to see my nephew holing hands with his husband and daughter in his free arm.
I smile as they walk over. I hug them and they hug back.
"He insisted he come today." I whisper peering at my son over my shoulder.
The two men sigh in unison.
"It is the 10th anniversary miss." Karma says.
"But it's his 10th birthday. He should be celebrating with his friends."
Nagisa puts his hand on my shoulder. "It's ok Aunty."
I smile as he wipes tears away.
Their daughter, who's 9 years old now, walks over to Ai.
They named her Chi.

She walks over to Ai and rubs his back.
Ai puts his head in her lap while she played with his hair.
She began comforting him.
They were so cute together.
"It's been awhile." Familiar voices come from behind us.
I turn to see the rest of E-class here. I smile as they walk over and place flowers and other items around the grave.
Some give their condolences politely.
"You can thank me later. I dragged the big lug here." Irana says smiling. She was the brightest thing here.
Karasuma was standing next to her, stoic as always. "Hello children."
Everyone laughs lightly.
"I don't think anything's changed with them." Karma comments.
I walk over and hug my best friend.
He hugs back. "It's nice to see you," he whispers.
I pull away and smile.
Ai finally stands up and takes a deep breath. He turns around and jumps. "When did you all get here?"
Everyone laughs again.
He blushes pouting. His arms cross over his chest.
I pick him up and he hugs me smiling.
"I love you mommy."
"I love you too baby."

"Where is Itona?" Someone asks.
Everyone looks around and shrugs.
"I guess he couldn't make it."
"What are you talking about? I'm right here." Itona says.
We all look up, and he's sitting in a tree. Everyone laughs lightly once again.
"Everyone I have a surprise. It took 10 years but I've finally managed to complete it."
"What is it Itona?" I ask.
His head turns toward the path. "Come over Kanato."
We all look at the path and wait for this surprise to walk over.

My eyes widen as the familiar face appears. "This can't be happening," I whisper.
"Who is this Itona?" Karma asks wrapping his arm around his husband's waist.
I walk over slowly and place my hand on his cheek, and stare into his eyes.
"Did you miss me?" He whispers and tears water my eyes.
"Does someone wanna explain what's happening?" Nagisa asks.
"Well I decided to do what he did for Kayano. I kept out the parts that turned him into the octopus. Then I filled the missing parts. It took a long time, but I got it. He's human once again. And he even has all his memories. He didn't have a name so I gave him one."
I cry softly and hug him tightly.
He holds me close. "Please don't cry darling. I'm here, and I won't leave you ever again." He plays with my hair, then puts it up like he once did.
"Mommy who is that?" Ai asks pulling on my shirt.
I look down at my son, and then I smile weakly. I pick him up and set him on my hip. "This is your daddy?"
Ai smiles and lunges at his father. He squeezes tightly and cries softly. "Daddy I missed you so much."
Kanato smiles and holds him close. "I missed you too Ai. I missed you and mommy." He looks at me and smiles.
"Koro-sensei," Nagisa whispers.
The tall man I call husband turns to my nephew. He smiles and sets Ai down. He walks over to the blue haired boy, then hugs him tightly.
Nagisa began crying as he hugs back.
Then everyone began crying and group hugged their teacher.
He laughs lightly. "I can't breath everyone."
Everyone pulls away except Nagisa.
"Nagisa let go," Karma says.
Nagisa sniffles and pulls away.
Karma holds his husband close and smiles. "Wow teach. You look good."
"Thank you Karma. You look great as well. I must say it is strange being human again. I'm gonna miss traveling at Mach 20."
Everyone laughs collectively.
"It's nice to see you octopus," Irana says.
The said man turns and smiles. "I heard you two are married. Congratulations."
Irana smiles and hugs her husband's arms.
Karasuma smiles slightly. "It's nice to see you. As long as you don't blow up the Earth."
"I don't plan on it." He replies and holds my waist.
I smile and kiss his cheek. "I love you."
"I love you more." He kisses me softly, and I kiss back. "Let's have a toast."
Everyone grabbed a glass and poured wine for themselves, except the handful of children. They raise their glasses.
"To the amazing futures you've all created for yourselves. I could not be any prouder of any of you children. Thank you." Kanato raises his glass higher and smiles at everyone.
"And here's to your return Koro-sensei." Nagisa says raising his glass.
"I am no longer Koro-sensei. I am Kanato," he corrects.
"To Kanato." Irana cheers and drinks.
"To Kanato," the rest of us say and drink.
My husband kisses my cheek and holds me close.
I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him softly.
He kisses back holding my hips, then massaging them.
I smile against his lips and he does the same.
"Get a room you two," Itona says monotonously.
"But they do have a room," Ai comments.
All the adults laugh at that.
"That's not what I meant." Itona remarks and crosses his arms over his chest. His gazes turns to the ground.
I pick Ai up and hold him between me and Kanato.
Ai hugs his father. "I love you daddy."
"I love you more baby." The older man replies.
