****Cassandra POV****It all started on a Monday morning there i was grumbling to myself as usual.
I hate Monday mornings, I hate the fact that I have to go to school for a complete five days without taking a break, I hate my big glasses, I hate being called a nerd. It isn't my fault I get straight As, blame my mother and father for my genetic information. Oh how I would love to be one of the popular kids. What wouldn't I do to be noticed by all.
Speaking of popular kids I need to get out this bed and ready for school before mom comes stampeding into my room.Soon after my mother's voice crept up the stairs and into my ear drums;
"Cassy!"
"Yes mom, am up and about to shower I'll be right there."I climbed out of bed and entered my bathroom to shower. After showering I came out rapped in a white towel and my shower cap, which i removed as I headed for my mirror. The sight was most disturbing, my eyes had bags underneath them from the late night reading, my pink lips were chopped and my straight red hair was knotted like a three year old did a number on it. Uh I wasn't in the mood for this. I needed mom as she was the one good at this girly stuff.
"Mommy!!", I said as I ran out my room, down the stairs and into the kitchen where she was preparing my breakfast.
"What now Cassy?"
"Look at me, am a mess!"
"Cassy am tired of telling you, you have perfect cheek bones. Your such a drama queen", said mom as she lifted her head up from the plate of food she just shared to look at me.
She quivered at the sight of me, which made me sink into the ground. I had one of those mothers who made you feel like you weren't good enough at anything. Her red hair was always neatly comb, her voice was soft and soothing, she was a cheerleader in high school and a straight A student. No matter how hard I try I would never be her. It didn't take her long to notice the pout I had on my face as I tried to hide behind my hair.
"Now, now Cassy eat your breakfast. It's nothing that a little concealer, face powder, lip gloss and flat iron won't fix. Let's finish breakfast and I'll doll you up after."
We both sat down and had breakfast then after placing the dishes in the sink we went upstairs and into my mother's bathroom where she would gave me a little confidence for the day. I sat down in a chair around a little table facing a mirror. My mom reached for a big teeth comb and started combing the knots out my hair. After which she flat iron it and made it sit in it's full length above my waist line. Then she proceeded in applying make up to my face and finished up with lip gloss. I glanced back into the mirror as she step away from my face. I was totally astonished. I looked like models within magazines. It was the first time I was wearing makeup and i was loving it. Mom had always wanted a daughter to do all this girly stuff with but ended up with a Tom boy. I looked away from the mirror stand on my feet, hug my mother and kissed her as I showed my appreciation. Her giggles made my face came alive as it became painted with a elegant smile.
I was ready to go get dress and was about to end by to my room when my mother held on to my hands."Why don't you wear these today, they are the natural colour of your eyes", she said slipping the little box with contact lens in my hands.
My mother has been trying to get me to wear contact lens since the day I brought these glasses and I was never interested, still isn't but I don't want to break her heart after what she just did for me.
"Sure mom, if you put them in place for me I'll wear them", I said sitting back down as I placed the box in her hands.
Strangely i looked good in contact lens and they sure beat my funny looking glasses.
